Position Description: | Position Summary:
The lab technician provides support for Computer Networking Technology (CNT) and Computer Systems Technology (CST) classes. This is a part-time position.
Essential Duties include:
Preparing classroom computers for labs. Assisting students with in-class labs. Testing, documenting, and providing feedback on labs prepared by faculty members. Troubleshoot problems with labs. Troubleshoot and correct problems with classroom computers and networking hardware. Able to make simple repairs and diagnostics on printers. Update master drives and imaging drives for classroom computers at the beginning of the semester. Verify that there are no problems with the imaged drives. Prepare and reimage flash drives used in class labs. Provide support for the Data Center. Researches and reports on topics assigned by faculty or the Part-Time Computer Systems Coordinator Receives direction from faculty and part-time Computer Systems Coordinator for special projects and tasks.
Minimum Qualifications: | Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Hardworking, logical thinker, able to take instruction quickly. Strong written and verbal skills. Good interpersonal skills. Previous experience with and successful completion of CNT and CST classes. Knowledge of and competency with Windows, Windows Server, Linux, Microsoft Office, VMware, Hyper-V, and ESXi as well as utilities and software used in CNT and CST classes (or willingness to learn). Knowledge of and competency with computer and networking hardware. Ability to diagnose and fix most computer and networking hardware problems.
