Who We Are
Gradient Learning is a nonprofit organization guided by the vision that educators should be empowered to meet the needs of all of their students. Gradient Learning is rebuilding education together with communities, schools, and educators. We are committed to meeting the holistic needs of every child while fostering success for all. We lead Gradient Learning and Along products.  

The Gradient Learning Program offers schools a whole-student system to help schools realize their vision for whole-student growth. Our whole student system is a curated and integrated suite of research-based tools and resources, including rigorous curricula, teacher and leader resources and trainings, whole student assessments and data displays, as well as ongoing, customized coaching for school leadership teams. The program is utilized by hundreds of schools across the U.S. to fuel their whole student work.

Along is a free, interactive video journal that helps teachers guide their students to reflect and grow all year long--whether they’re back in the classroom or learning remotely. Along brings skill-building resources and efficient communication into a dedicated space where every student feels seen and heard.

Partner Engagement Lead

Position Overview
Gradient Learning is seeking a strategic and relationship-driven Partner Engagement Lead to strengthen and expand our relationships with district leaders and other key stakeholder groups. This role is focused on providing high-level guidance and partnership strategy to systems-level stakeholders, ensuring Gradient Learning’s work is responsive to the needs of the field while advancing our mission. 
As a Partner Engagement Lead, you will act as a trusted advisor to district leaders and other key stakeholders—co-designing strategic initiatives, facilitating meaningful engagement opportunities, and aligning partnership goals with Gradient’s programmatic and organizational priorities. You’ll help shape pilots, programs, and research collaborations by translating partner priorities into actionable engagements, ensuring they produce insights and impact that are relevant at the systems level. 

This role requires a candidate who is equally comfortable in high-level strategic conversations and on-the-ground implementation planning and execution. You must be deeply knowledgeable about the current K-12 landscape, including district decision-making dynamics, and skilled at navigating complex partnerships with clarity and purpose. Reporting to the Managing Director of Partner Engagement, you will collaborate across teams to ensure Gradient’s educator network is engaged in forward-looking, impactful partnerships that contribute to the evolution of our program and the broader field.   
 
The Ideal Candidate

Key  Responsibilities:
Strategic Consultation and Partnership Development
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to district and system-level leaders, identifying shared priorities and positioning Gradient Learning as a thought partner in addressing local and national education challenges.
  • Design and lead customized engagement strategies that foster deep, long-term relationships and create value for both partners and Gradient Learning.
  • Facilitate high-leverage discussions and co-design sessions with key stakeholders that inform program design, pilot strategy, and field learning.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into actionable recommendations for internal teams and research partners, ensuring partnership initiatives are grounded in real-world system challenges and opportunities. 
Key Stakeholder Engagement
  • Manage a portfolio of strategic relationships, ensuring ongoing communication, responsiveness, and alignment around shared priorities. 
  • Plan and execute high-quality engagements-such as convenings, learning experiences, and strategic check-ins-that deepen partner investment and inform Gradient’s work.
  • Track partnership health and recommend strategies for renewal, growth, or refinement of key initiatives.  
Field Leadership and Sector Influence
  • Stay informed on key topics - including AI in education, effective use of high-quality instructional materials, and the quickly changing K-12 education landscape - and translate that knowledge to inform content and engagement opportunities for partners. 
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for Gradient Learning and its partners to engage in broader field-building conversations and networks. 
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to elevate partner voices through media, thought leadership, and storytelling efforts. 
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
  • Actively support colleagues by problem-solving and providing strategic thought partnership, including identifying and addressing data trends across all pilots and portfolios. 
  • Contribute to the refinement of internal tools, processes,  systems, and strategies to enhance partner success.
  • Serve as a liaison to broader team-level initiatives and cross-functional teams, ensuring the school and district partner perspective informs broader team initiatives.
  • Actively synthesize learnings from our strategic partnerships to inform program strategy and future pilot engagements.

Location
Our work is national in scope, and our team is virtual. The location for this role is flexible within the continental United States.

Qualifications:
  • Commitment to uphold Gradient Learning values. 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in education consulting, or a related field with a strong track record of managing strategic partnerships or leading system-level initiatives. (required)
  • At least 2 years of direct experience working within a school district or in close partnership with district leadership, with a deep understanding of district priorities, decision-making processes, and implementation challenges. (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to consult with and influence senior stakeholders, particularly district leaders, funders, and other high-level education decision-makers.
  • Deep understanding of the K-12 education landscape, including current trends in AI, high-quality instructional materials, and district decision-making processes. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility across diverse audiences and tailor messages to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects from ideation to execution, balancing strategic vision with operational detail.
  • Experience facilitating strategic conversations, co-design sessions, or collaborative planning with cross-sector partners.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize data and qualitative insights into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment, with the agility to navigate ambiguity and drive results.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to support in-person events, partner meetings, and team-wide convenings.

What You Can Expect From Us:
Gradient Learning offers full-time employees competitive salaries and benefits. The range for this role is $103,000-$113,000, with candidates typically starting at the beginning portion of the range, this enables the employees' growth in the range over time. The actual placement of the range depends on the candidate's qualifications, internal equity considerations, and the budget earmarked for this role.
Candidates living in the following areas will receive a cost of labor increase of:
  • SF Bay Area: +10%
  • New York Metro Area:  +5%
