Organization's Summary Statement:
This position will support the efforts of DIT to ensure that digital documents created by staff and faculty at the University of Maryland meet accessibility standards and are usable by all individuals, including those using assistive technologies. This role focuses on reviewing, remediating, and validating PDF documents to comply with WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508, and institutional accessibility guidelines.
- Remediate PDF documents using Accessibility Checkers in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Use accessibility tools such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Equidox, SensusAccess and other PDF accessibility checkers.
- Assist users with Equidox and SensusAccess to begin large-scale PDF remediation, following up with using Adobe Acrobat as necessary
- Answer questions on PDF accessibility where possible (triage to Web Accessibility Specialist as-needed)
- Assist the Web Accessibility Specialist in long-term projects, creating educational materials such as:
- PDF how-to videos
- A PDF walkthrough guide with screenshots
- Assist the Accessible Learning Designer supporting faculty and staff with area-specific PDF remediation (e.g., STEM, Music, etc.)
- Other Duties as Assigned
Additional Information
Please note that all positions within the Division of Information Technology (DIT) have an in person component with expected time in our College Park, MD location per week. Telework is not a guaranteed work arrangement.
Core days/hours are 8:30-4:00 Mon-Fri

Physical Demands:

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: One (1) year of professional administrative, coordinator, or information technology experience.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of academic policies.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Google Office and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments.
Ability to interact with internal and external staff at all levels in a professional, courteous and efficient manner.
