The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
The Division of Narrative Medicine in the Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons seeks a Program Manager to manage its educational and training projects, external and internal communications, and tech support. The Program Manager reports to the chair of the Department of Medical Humanities and Ethics. The time commitment is flexible from 50-90%.

Responsibilities
  • Cultivate Narrative Medicine team collaboration for division’s educational and program-building events.
  • Provide coordinating oversight to schedule, manage, and track multiple public and in-house educational tasks effectively.
  • Strategize around competing demands, critical thinking for prioritizing urgent issues and adapting to changes.
  • Convey internal and external messages effectively with diplomacy and discretion.
  • Plan budgeting, invoicing, strategic planning, and project management to organize event logistics (including facilities, catering, marketing) on appropriate timelines.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience required.
  • 4 years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Interpersonal skills of team-building and active listening to enhance collaboration.
  • Social media fluency across multiple platforms—ability to write/proof/adapt messages for Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, BlueSky, TikTok.
  • Experience with or ability to learn internal CU systems and branding objectives for event planning: 25Live Classroom Scheduling, Courseworks/Canvas, Continuing Education Accreditation Procedures, Security Procedures and protocols.
  • Tech-support skills for virtual/in-person events, including basic on-sight AV, or Zoom/MS Teams platform scheduling/management.
  • Customer service/communication skills for managing communications with event attendees and answering queries and resolving issues.
  • BA. Experience in communications, preferably at Columbia.
  • Familiarity with email marketing logistics and software, eg, listservs, Constant Contact, Mailchimp.
  • Basic understanding of copyright and privacy concerns in disseminating published materials, including print and images.
  • Fluency in Google Drive, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Constant Contact/MailChimp, Canva/Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, MS Word/Excel.
  • Preferred: basic experience with web management and/or basic design: Drupal, HTML, Photoshop/Canvas.
