General Job Description 
This is a professional position responsible for providing functional and technical application development support for one or more administrative system modules. Responsible for the analysis, design, coding, testing, and implementation of software processes, as well as job control procedures and documentation. Performs duties under the direct supervision of an application manager.

Essential Job Functions 
1. Researches, documents, analyzes, and evaluates end-user needs and existing business processes in order to scope requirements, define user expectations, and design proposed software functionality.
2. Develops new software processes and modifies existing processes to better meet the needs of functional users. Documents new software processes.
3. Creates and modifies reports for functional users in support of new software processes or in response to local, state, and national requirements.
4. Supports assigned software processes.
5. Designs and requests system enhancements from software vendors, when appropriate.
6. Coordinates efforts with the Project Management Office, as appropriate.
7. Investigates problems and takes necessary steps for resolution.
8. Assumes the role of primary and/or backup analyst for one or more system modules, including being on-call during nightly, weekend, and holiday processing.
9. Actively participates in meetings within the department and with end-users and workgroups.
10. Responds to ad hoc requests, as assigned.

6. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
Physical Demands  |
Required Education  | Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, or a related field is required. Related experience may be substituted for required education on a basis set forth by the Department of Human Resources.
Required Experience and Training  | No direct employment experience is required. Some formal training in programming is required.
Preferred Qualifications  | Experience in higher education is preferred.
