Job Description
SUMMARY: The Project Controller plays a critical role in the financial management and performance oversight of projects and portfolios. This position serves as a vital link between project management and finance, ensuring projects are executed within budget, achieve financial objectives, and adhere to established financial policies and procedures. The Project Controller will be responsible for rigorous cost control, forecasting, variance analysis, and reporting to provide actionable financial insights that drive successful project delivery and profitability.

Financial Planning & Budgeting:
- Collaborate with Project Managers to develop detailed project budgets, forecasts, and financial baselines.
- Review and validate project estimates for accuracy and completeness.
Cost Control & Monitoring:
- Monitor project expenditures against budget, identifying and analyzing variances, trends, and potential cost overruns.
- Implement and maintain robust cost control measures, including tracking actuals, commitments, and remaining costs.
- Manage and track changes to project scope, ensuring financial impacts are properly assessed and reflected in budgets/forecasts.
Forecasting & Reporting:
- Develop and maintain accurate financial forecasts (Estimate at Completion - EAC, Estimate to Complete - ETC) for projects and the overall portfolio.
- Prepare regular, comprehensive financial reports and dashboards for Project Managers, PMO leadership, Finance, and executive stakeholders.
- Provide insightful analysis on project financial performance, highlighting risks and opportunities.
Earned Value Management (EVM):
- Implement and utilize EVM principles to assess project performance (CPI, SPI) and forecast future costs and schedules where applicable.
Risk Management:
- Identify and assess financial risks associated with projects, developing mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
- Ensure appropriate financial contingencies are incorporated into project plans and forecasts.
Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure all project financial activities comply with company policies, accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS), and contractual obligations.
- Support internal and external audits related to project financials.
System Utilization & Improvement:
- Act as a power user and champion for Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools, ERP systems (e.g., Unanet), and financial reporting software.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation in project financial management.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for Project Managers, Finance, and other departments regarding project financial matters.
- Provide guidance and training to project teams on financial best practices and tool usage.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
- 3-5+ years of progressive experience in Project Control, Project Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), or a similar role, preferably in a project-driven environment.
- Proven experience with project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile) and project lifecycle phases.
Skills:
- Proficiency in project financial management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Unanet).
- Strong expertise in Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools (e.g., Planview, Smartsheet, Monday.com, Jira, Asana, Microsoft Project, Unanet).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, financial modeling).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

- Demonstrated skill with Project Management tools and concepts
- Outstanding time management and organization skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to travel 10% of the time
- Ability to clear required background check
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Finance, or a related field. PMP, CAPM, or other relevant certifications are a plus.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
We anticipate the compensation to be $43 per hour. This is a temporary/contractor role and you will be an employee of Randstad. This salary is not guaranteed, as an individual’s compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions.
