Project Manager III - School Full Description

Overview: 
POSITION SUMMERY:  
Under the general direction of the Director or designee, the Project Manager III bleads organization-wide large projects. The Project Manager III is responsible for initiating action on multiple projects in a matrix environment. Tasks vary according to the priorities of the organization. 

Responsibilities: 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Lead, manage and develop organization-wide large projects from the idea generation and feasibility stage through completion
  • Communicate project status, budget, costs, issues, and related information to the project’s team leaders, sponsors, steering committee, affected business unit(s), and team members
  • Identify and recommend specific resource requirements
  • Support the department in audit reviews of completed projects, review whether project met expectations, identify potential areas for improvement, and document the results and recommendations
  • Assist the project’s sponsor in refining the project scope and objectives, including any constraints
  • Ensure that common solutions are found and implemented for common problems across all projects
  • Communicate objectives, scope, and required and expected deliverables of each project phase
  • Assess and evaluate project risks, mitigate and implement strategies to alleviate them
  • Manage project staff
  • Assist the Director in the development of contracts
  • Provide support to the department in the development of strategic planning
  • Participate in the development and implementation of performance improvement initiatives
  • Adhere to University, State and funding agency policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as required.
 
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years of demonstrated experience in project management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with staff, clients, and vendor staff
  • Ability to lead and manage matrix project teams
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations.

At least 3 years experience helping Director oversee CME/CE activities
Helping organize CME/CE activities
Assisting with grant writing (taken a grant writing class)
