As a team manager and supervisor this role serves as a key cross-functional connector across partners, staff, ambassadors, and communities nationwide. The Project Manager, Senior supports the scaling of national initiatives that position libraries—and other trusted third spaces such as museums, cafés, and community spaces—as hubs for citizen and community science.

The nature of this work intersects with other SciStarter operations and requires active involvement in organizational operations as well as digital, business, and strategic development discussions. This includes participating in planning and development meetings; contributing to brainstorming and problem-solving; supporting execution; and helping track progress, report outcomes, and iterate on programs and systems over time.

This entrepreneurial role requires a positive, organized, relationship-driven professional who enjoys building systems, supporting teams, and growing programs with national impact while contributing to SciStarter's broader organizational goals.

Essential Duties:

  • Serve as a primary relationship manager and, as appropriate, a public face of SciStarter programs, representing the work with clarity, professionalism, and enthusiasm.

  • Cultivate networks and expand partnerships with libraries, state systems, national organizations, and other third spaces such as museums, cafés, and community-based organizations.

  • Support deeper engagement in priority states through trainings, toolkits, and scalable implementation models.

  • Manage day-to-day project operations and coordinate work across internal teams, contractors, and collaborators.

  • Foster a positive, "all hands on deck" team culture that values initiative, flexibility, and shared ownership.

  • Lead scheduling, documentation, and follow-through for cross-team meetings, workflows, and deliverables.

  • Participate in activities and support operational, digital, business, and strategic development meetings related to SciStarter's broader work.

  • Monitor progress toward goals, timelines, and growth targets; identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency, and scale.

  • Create, update, and oversee high-quality program content, including trainings, professional development materials, program descriptions, toolkits, and open-access resources for libraries and other community-facing institutions.

  • Develop and maintain program information and promotional resources for both print and digital use.

  • Coordinate with web and platform teams to maintain and enhance digital infrastructure supporting the networks.

  • Support development and dissemination of citizen science kits, programming models, and large-scale initiatives such as Citizen Science Month.

  • Contribute to and help manage digital content across platforms, including website updates, newsletters, and social media, in collaboration with the SciStarter team.

  • Develop virtual events, including Zoom hosting, facilitation, and coordination.

  • Ensure consistent, engaging messaging aligned with SciStarter's voice and values across platforms.

  • Organize project documentation and shared resources, maintaining clear file structures and version control within Google Drive.

  • Track activities, outputs, and outcomes to support internal learning and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure alignment with grant objectives, indicators, and deliverables.

  • Prepare inputs for narrative and financial reports (annual and final), in collaboration with leadership.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

  • Experience in project management, program delivery, or coordination of complex, multi-partner initiatives.

  • Experience working with national organizations, libraries, museums, or other community organization.

  • Demonstrated excellence in communication across formats—written, verbal, digital, and presentation.

  • Experience creating and managing content for digital platforms, newsletters, and social media.

  • Experience with WordPress, Google Workspace (including Drive), Zoom, and virtual collaboration tools.
