Our Opportunity:

Job Summary:
The Student Accessibility Services Coordinator coordinates day-to-day operations for students throughout their educational career at Purdue Global (PG). This position ensures PG is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other applicable federal and state regulations. The Student Accessibility Services Coordinator serves as the liaison and resource to students, faculty, and staff regarding University accessibility service requirements and available accommodations.

What to expect in this role:
  • ADA Eligibility & Reasonable Accommodation:
    • Timely address inquiries regarding ADA services and eligibility, providing information to both current and prospective PG students.
    • Confirm eligibility for ADA services through the examination of documentation submitted by current and prospective students detailing their accessibility requirements.
    • Determine reasonable accommodations and communicate accordingly to students and faculty.
    • Provide accessibility accommodations for qualified students each term, including any required settings in the Learning Management System (LMS).
    • Maintain confidential records in accordance with established privacy protocols, ensuring the secure storage and management of sensitive information related to ADA services and eligibility.
    • Assist in the research of assistive technologies and resources.
  • Consultation & Process Improvement:
    • Provide ongoing consultation, assistance, and training to PG faculty and staff, to support students with accessibility needs.
    • Proactively review processes and policies to ensure compliance, while identifying opportunities that improve the student experience.
  • Student Complaints: 
    • Research and prepare responses to student complaints, as needed by the Office of Student Relations.
  • Accomodation Coordination:
    • Order any approved assistive technology from third-party vendors for students.
    • Process, order, and track physical textbook orders from BNC and PDF requests from Publishers.
    • Send accommodation notification letters to instructors and students during the first week of each term, as well as manually adjust timed assessments in Brightspace.
  • Student Support and Advocacy:
    • Provide support to students and faculty via phone calls when needed.
  • Collaboration and Training:
    • Create and conduct training sessions on accommodations and the SAS department.
 
Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum 4 years of related experience, preferably in student accommodations.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, balance competing demands for time, and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Provide support to students and faculty via phone calls when needed.
  • Effective analytical skills with the ability to assess situations, resolve issues or make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style and method to suit different audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a professional demeanor with people at all levels within the organization and from diverse backgrounds.
