The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 
Position Summary
The Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst/Specialist plays a key role in supporting outpatient radiology sites by leading quality assurance initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Reporting to the QA Nurse Manager and Practice Administrator(s), this role participates in staff education, clinical compliance, process optimization, and patient safety efforts. The QA Specialist will actively collaborate with clinical and administrative leadership to develop, implement, and monitor best practices aimed at elevating patient care standards.
 
Responsibilities
  • Review all reported patient safety events using the adverse event reporting system; investigate incidents and coordinate resolution of patient care concerns across CDNYPI sites.
  • Participate in audits, chart reviews, and root cause analyses (RCAs); assist in identifying corrective actions and monitoring follow-up compliance.
  • Apply and articulate the nursing process, quality and performance improvement methodology, and interdisciplinary collaboration to support a positive, safe, and efficient work environment.
  • Collaborate with the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) Faculty Practice Organization (FPO) Patient Safety Department on shared initiatives related to quality and safety.
  • Partner with the CUIMC Privacy Office to identify, investigate, and resolve privacy-related concerns or violations.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly QA reports and presentations for CDNYPI meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date policies and procedures in the designated electronic format.
  • Conduct internal audits and compliance reviews at various outpatient radiology sites.
  • Utilize and navigate electronic medical records (EMRs) and reporting tools for data analysis and insight generation.
  • Compile, analyze, and present quality and compliance data to drive best practices and promote excellence in clinical operations.
  • Actively participate in ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory guidelines and standards (e.g., Joint Commission, DOH, HIPAA).
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience.
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Previous experience in healthcare required; with a preference for experience in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, project management, or organizational change management.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration
  •  Experience with Radiology Modalities
