Regional Director Full Description

Position Summary:
As a Regional Director for AoPS Academy, you play a critical role in helping AoPS Academy grow and reach more students by ensuring regional growth and flourishing campuses. This leadership role demands a dynamic individual to provide strategic direction and oversight, ensuring adherence to educational, growth and performance standards while fostering a culture of accountability.  Effective communication and collaboration is paramount, requiring the ability to report information both up and down the organizational chain and to problem solve closely and successfully with leaders and colleagues across campuses, regions and departments.

Location: 
  • Remote - must be located in either of the below two locations  
    • Location 1: Based in Southern California (San Diego/LA County/Orange County) Area
    • Location 2: Based in Houston/Austin/Dallas Area
  • This position requires frequent travel within the assigned region and occasional travel outside the area, as well as some evening and weekend hours. 

The Regional Director Will:
  • Provide strategic direction and operational oversight for all AoPS Academy campuses within the assigned region, upholding a high operational bar across all.
  • Perform monthly financial reviews with campus and HQ leadership. Train and support campus leaders in making financially sound business decisions and hold them accountable to financial margins.
  • Establish regional performance standards and growth objectives with HQ teams and campus leaders. Analyze performance data, implement improvements, and hold campuses accountable to metrics. Provide KPI updates to the National Operations Director and Academy leadership.
  • Train to and uphold AoPS educational mission and standards. Ensure consistent quality of educational services by monitoring program quality and supporting campus teams in maintaining academic rigor and student engagement.
  • Hire, develop, and manage campus leadership teams. Supervise campus hiring efforts for all positions and lead programs that foster professional development, cross-campus mentorship, and knowledge sharing. 
    • Lead projects defining staffing levels, roles, promotion structures, and compensation in collaboration with Talent Strategy and Academy leadership.
  • Act as a strategic partner to Expansion efforts by successfully launching new campuses, providing market insights, and partnering on market research and site identification. 
    • Communicate and collaborate across all levels of management and departments. Document and escalate regional feedback to HQ teams and contribute to improving operations, systems, and processes at both HQ and campus levels.
  • Facilitate resolution of escalated campus issues and complete other tasks as assigned.

All of the following required qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree is required, with advanced degree preferred
  • Experience teaching K-12 or in Education administration or management preferred  
  • Multi-site leadership and management experience
  • Strong financial management skills, including experience with budget development and management, as well as an understanding of margin drivers
  • Business or other analytical background to support monitoring of data and budgets
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
Some or most of the following preferred qualifications:
  • Advanced degree
  • Experience teaching K-12
  • Education administration or management
