Must be able to meet deadlines and prioritize workload appropriately through sound fiscal and time management skills. Evidence of project coordination and project management experience. Ability to work in an active team environment frequently taking initiative to resolve problems independently. Ability to adapt interpersonal style and approach based on circumstance and cues from others in a way that makes others feel comfortable and respected. Must have well-developed and efficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, web browsers, databases.
Preferred Qualifications | Higher education degree. Direct experience with the preparation and review of proposals and budgets for grants and contracts. Knowledge of Uniform Administrative Requirements and Cost Principles for Federal Awards.
Job Description The pre-award Research Coordinator (RC) is part of a fun, creative team at the Center for Communication, Collaboration & Creativity (C3) housed in the College of Fine Arts and Communication. He or she will support faculty in their identification and pursuit of internal and external funding opportunities and will assist in pre-award grant planning and development including edits and feedback for budgets, narratives, and supporting documents. The pre-award RC works collaboratively with the post-award RC to ensure applications from faculty follow all required federal, state, university, and funding-specific guidelines. They will communicate, collaborate, and meet with faculty and staff from across the university to develop research/creative ideas and projects. C3 is unique on campus as it has the only advisory board made up of dedicated faculty from each of the college’s schools and departments who guide the direction of the research center. This advisory board provides the pre-award RC with unique insight and innovative ideas on how to support researchers and promote interdisciplinary collaboration within the university, community and beyond. Overall, the pre-award RC seamlessly provides excellent customer service to support Fine Arts & Communication faculty in their research and scholarly creative activities, especially those in the college with inter-disciplinary research teams and those pursuing funding for their projects such as grants and contracts.
Job Duties Identify, disseminate and assist faculty with applications for funding opportunities, both internal and external. Collaborate with the Office of Sponsored Programs and project PIs to ensure funding applications are competitive and submitted on time. Create, promote, and facilitate events, trainings, and workshops for faculty. Facilitate C3 Advisory Board Meetings through scheduling and coordinating agendas and notes. Maintain C3 website and create faculty-friendly resources for all aspects of grant proposal development. Identify and participate in personal professional development opportunities in areas of funding opportunities, both internal and external. Assist in post-award grant administration as needed. Record and monitor awarded proposals as well as funded grants and contracts. Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Information to Applicants Knowledge of: analyzing reports and web-based materials to discern funder priorities; comparing proposal budget drafts to funder requirements.
Skill in: working effectively as a team member; providing clear feedback on proposal budget documents’ conformance to funder requirements.
Ability to: assist with budget preparation for proposals, research outcomes and reporting; interpret and apply complex grant and technical documents.
