The Sales Development Representative (SDR) at Hawkes Learning partners with an aligned field sales team to turn lead-generating activity into qualified, meaningful sales conversations. This role focuses on timely follow-up, coordination, and acceleration of interest generated through marketing campaigns, events, inbound inquiries, and targeted sales outreach.
This entry-level EdTech role is well-suited for individuals transitioning from the classroom or early in their sales careers who are motivated by growth, take initiative, and are eager to develop their skills. By engaging with higher-education faculty early in the course-adoption process, the SDR qualifies inbound and outbound leads, develops an understanding of instructional needs, and collaborates closely with sales teams to advance opportunities through the sales pipeline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comfort working in a high-activity environment with frequent phone, email, and virtual outreach.
- Ability to remain motivated and professional in the face of rejection, ambiguity, and extended decision timelines typical in higher education.
- Support an assigned sales team with lead follow-up, account outreach, and day-to-day campus support
- Manage and qualify inbound and marketing-generated leads related to product interest, trials, and events
- Conduct proactive outreach to faculty and academic administrators to introduce Hawkes Learning solutions
- Perform initial discovery to understand course needs, instructional goals, and adoption timing
- Assist with awareness and attendance-driving efforts for events
- Schedule qualified meetings and complete proper hand-offs to the sales team
- Conduct online product demonstrations with faculty
- Responsible for the Sales Support inbox and maintaining accurate records and activity tracking in the CRM
- Occasional travel with colleagues to assist in sales presentations at conferences and college campuses.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with minimum 3.0 GPA
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%
- 1-2 years of proven experience in inside sales, preferably in educational technology
- Strong written, oral, and non-verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of forecast and pipeline management
- Collaborative mindset and a team player
- Organized with excellent time management skills
- Drive and self-motivation to achieve and exceed sales targets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience using CRM and sales engagement tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Salesloft, etc.) preferred.
