The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) announced a five-year, investment establishing the Safeguarding the Entire Community of the U.S. Research Ecosystem (SECURE) Center. The national SECURE Center grant will encompass five regional hubs, to fund SECURE Southeast, to be managed by Emory University. The SECURE Center will share information and reports on research security risks, provide training on research security to the science and engineering community and serve as a bridge between the research community and government funding agencies to strengthen cooperation on addressing security concerns.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Stakeholder Research & Data Collection – Create and populate a detailed stakeholder matrix for all colleges and universities in the state of Georgia. Lead the development of a regional stakeholder matrix, capturing critical organizational data such as Carnegie classification, MSI status, professional memberships (APLU, AUU, COGR, etc.), annual federal funding (HERD), and points of contact.
  • Contribute to the National Center’s CRM – Assist in the design and build-out of the SECURE Center CRM in Monday.com, incorporating the Southeast Region Stakeholder matrix data into the CRM to streamline operations.
  • Communication Templates – Create standardized communication templates for Co-Creation Stakeholder Activities (CSAs), for adoption by other regional centers.
  • Design, Plan, Develop CSA –Co-Creation Stakeholder Activity (CSA), including surveys and virtual workshops. Some examples of key concerns are around data security, foreign travel, and foreign affiliations, and participants mapped solutions based on impact and feasibility.
  • Community & Stakeholder Coordination - ensure efficient workflows and clear communication.
  • Material Development – Create presentations and supporting materials to effectively communicate project updates and findings to stakeholders. Compile and prepare essential project materials, such as reports and project plans, to support the team’s ongoing initiatives and respond to ad hoc requests requiring quick turnaround.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager Working Group – Collaborate closely with the project manager working group across regional centers, contributing insights and assisting in the development of project strategies and deliverables.
  • Onboarding Support – Provide onboarding assistance for new hires, providing clear guidance and support to ensure a smooth transition into the team and its processes.
  • Planning future CSAs – Collaborate with other regional centers to plan future CSAs to address the top seven research security challenges while adhering to National Center guidance and regulations.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Manages the development, evaluation, and implementation of one of more projects for a specified division or department. 
  • Develops written procedures relating to system implementation. 
  • Develops and prepares operational and statistical reports for management to assist decision-making for improvements in efficiency and controls. Maximizes the use of reporting software available. 
  • Prepares project status reports. 
  • Provides input into departmental goals and objectives. 
  • Periodically meets with other staff members to discuss progress towards their achievement and to develop future courses of action. 
  • Acts as a liaison to other departments for the implementation of new projects. 
  • Develops and implements formal training along with implementation of new systems and projects. 
  • Assists department staff during the implementation of projects. 
  • Develops, builds, and maintains relationships with department and campus staff and external parties who have relationships to area. 
  • Ensures effective communication for completion of projects on a timely basis. Develops and makes presentations related to projects. 
  • May identify and propose suggestions for improved efficiency and financial controls through various methods such as exception reporting or workflow redesign.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, computer science, business or a related field and five years project planning or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
