Department Summary
The College of Science at the University of North Texas consists of the Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics and the interdisciplinary programs: Teach North Texas, BioDiscovery Institute, Advanced Environmental Research Institute, and Interdisciplinary Program in Applied and Computational Science.

Position Overview
This position provides administrative, operational, and analytical support to the Physics Department, acting as the primary assistant to the Chair in all administrative and academic matters and serving as the Physics Department main office manager to ensure efficient, friendly communications. Responsibilities include budgetary oversight of a wide variety of departmental activities, including revenue-generating sub-units, process management (e.g. ePARs) for all department personnel, direct supervision of non-technical department administrative staff, and coordinating a wide variety of department activities as a liaison to college and university offices.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and five years of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Job DutiesBudget oversight for all departmental chart strings, including coordinating submission of periodic budget planning requests to the college, monitoring and submission of transfers as needed, and advising the department chair regarding budgetary matters. Process management (e.g. ePARs, faculty hiring support, coordination of onboarding & separations, administrative support for faculty review processes, etc.) for all departmental personnel matters. Direct supervision of department administrative staff (department purchaser and student/program coordinator), including directing their activities and providing training, support, and guidance as needed. Administrative support for academic scheduling of class and lab offerings, including but not limited to coordination of book adoptions. Broad administrative assistance to the Department Chair, including but not limited to: records management, conflict resolution, calendar management, project management (e.g. renovation, relocation), data collection & analysis, other projects as assigned by Chair
