Senior Application Engineer
Job Summary
Work with Sales, Development, and Marketing to grow the market and adoption of SimBiology, a leading solution used to model, simulate, and analyze dynamic systems, focusing on applications such as systems biology and PK/PD (Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics). Work with customers, understand their technical and business challenges, and help them understand solutions with MATLAB products. Work closely with the North American accounts, and help them be successful. You will work closely with sales teams. Develop and deliver demonstrations and presentations that highlight SimBiology. Own technical pre-sales, supporting marketing initiatives, and growing SimBiology use in Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP). Engage with customers via on-site visits, conference calls, and WebEx to learn about their business challenges and recommend solutions using MathWorks tools. Prepare and develop product demonstrations that highlight the use of MathWorks tools to address customer challenges. Present webinars, seminars and conference talks on topics in systems pharmacology with MATLAB and SimBiology. Communicate with technical audiences, as well as their managers. Perform extended evaluations with key customers to promote large-scale adoption of MathWorks tools. This includes multiple engagements with customers, both pre and post sales, to ensure customer success. Champion/foster an active community to enable customers to share ideas and best practices for adopting/expanding QSP with MATLAB and SimBiology. Assist account managers of key customers in account planning; including identifying target groups within the key accounts, planning specific engagements, and business development. Take the lead in growing SimBiology use within accounts. Work with internal consulting and external consulting companies to find customers solutions to grow their use/adoption of QSP with MATLAB and SimBiology. Deliver paid consulting projects and/or work with consulting companies to find customers solutions to grow their use/adoption of QSP with MATLAB and SimBiology. Identify opportunities and product-gaps/challenges. Provide field data back to Development so they can improve the products. Work with Marketing to attend conferences, contribute scientifically to QSP community to build both SimBiology and company recognition in the field. Position requires domestic/international travel based on company/client need (approximately 30-40 %). May telecommute up to 40%.

Minimum Qualifications:
Employer will accept a PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field and no experience.
Alternatively, employer will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field and two [2] years of experience in a Senior Application Engineer-related occupation or a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field and five [5] years of experience in a Senior Application Engineer-related occupation.
Position requires demonstrable experience with each of the following:
1. Demonstrated expertise developing and delivering technical and presentations on pharmaceutical or chemical topics;
2. Demonstrated expertise using MATLAB, SimBiology, NONMEM, Phoenix, or Winnonlin for differential equation-based models of biological or chemical systems;
3. Demonstrated expertise developing and calibrating models of dynamic biological or chemical systems to test scientific hypotheses and draw scientific conclusions;
4. Demonstrated competence in Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP),Pharmacokinetics (PK), or Pharmacodynamics (PD); and
5. Has relevant scholarly publications
