The opportunity

The Senior Director Technology Innovation, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, will assist the CTO in implementing the technology strategy and in accelerating the delivery of transformative technology solutions aligned with business strategy. The Senior Director Technology Innovation works in close partnership with the CTO, ITS leadership, architecture and technology teams, and departments to lead agreement on vision and to deliver the technology roadmap for the business. You will be the executive-level advisor with experience with technology who will make an immediate productivity impact by leading strategic technology improvements. This role can be 100% remote. #LI-Remote

What you'll do:

  • You will be a strategic advisor to the CTO for new ideas and projects; provide insights on important technology projects to ensure data-driven decisions.
  • You will monitor relevant technology trends and help identify mainstream and latest technologies to help us deliver our digital business strategy.
  • You will lead teams in the technology development process to define opportunity spaces and explore how latest technologies can transform the business. Lead special projects as assigned by the CTO to lead strategic goals.
  • You will use trendspotting to anticipate how technological and non-technological trends in higher education could help our company prepare for and navigate change and change.
  • You will help assess the potential risks of bringing latest technologies into us and in determining how to mitigate those risks.
  • You will help keep the SNHU technology roadmap current.
  • You will manage "test and learn" projects on behalf of the CTO; monitor POC's and pilots and assess ongoing progress in building digital business platforms that deliver enhanced value.
  • You will maintain relationships with all partners to gain understanding of goals and challenges and to support the technology our goals.
  • You will help strengthen technology standards across the University. Provide direction on the capabilities of new technologies which are incorporated into ITS products and services to deliver overall ITS strategy.
  • You will ensure ongoing communication and understanding of and among ITS Strategy and Governance, Information Security, and other ITS/business entities observing governance processes and control structures.
  • You will present reports, presentations, and other communications on behalf of the CTO. Help communicate technology standards, governance processes and performance KPIs.
  • You will measure our performance and set vision and plan to exceed the best benchmarks.
  • You will help manage daily operations of the technology department, including budgeting.
  • You will lead by example demonstrating the highest professional standards to foster a collaborative and cohesive team. Remove obstacles, ensure accountability; anticipate and resolve problems to allow the team to meet and exceed deliverables and commitments.
  • You will be liaison with staff, executives, senior leaders, and departments to facilitate collaboration across teams. Ensure a holistic view and approach to solving business problems, embracing opportunities to maximize our performance through the accelerated adoption and productive use of transformative methods and technologies.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

What we're looking for:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience planning and leading large-scale global technology programs, e.g., in technology improvement, business leadership, strategy, product management, management consulting or similar roles from which understanding of relevant technologies, vendors, and products has been derived.
  • Degree(s): Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field
  • 13+ years of experience in lieu of degree acceptable:
  • Experience with current and latest technology trends.
  • Experience leading IT transformation and managing complex IT systems and operational teams supporting important business systems in a matrixed environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT principles and best practices including ITSM, ITIL, Agile and DevOps.
  • Experience leading collaborative strategy and implementation work in a team environment.
  • Experience with building/leading experienced, motivated, and collaborative teams.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strategic planning and project management skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at any given time.
  • Vendor and contract negotiation and management skills including expertise in complex budget planning and financial management.
  • Define multiple solution options to meet our needs and guide successful data-driven decisions through RFIs, RFPs, and the execution of prototypes.
