Job Summary  | Leads the management and maintenance of our Linux server infrastructure. Resolves server related problems and maintains system security. Works closely with other IT professionals, developers, and end-users to provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and implement system enhancements. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications  | Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science or related field. Four (4) year’s experience administering Linux-based servers and storage environments. Experience in project management. Experience with server automation and configuration management tools, such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. Familiarity with Linux server security best practices and tools, including SELinux, iptables, and firewalld. Related work experience may be substituted for education requirement. One (1) year of related work experience can be substituted for one (1) year of education. For example, a candidate with a high school diploma, GED or state recognized equivalent and eight (8) years of related work experience can be eligible to apply.

Preferred Qualifications  | Experience installing and maintaining Linux and Windows servers running on bare-metal Intel hardware and virtual servers in virtualized and cloud computing environments, i.e. VMware, Azure, AWS. Experience working with container platforms and containerized applications. Experience with version control systems such as GitHub and GitLab. PeopleSoft experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)  | Effective written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills and decision-making abilities. Knowledge of Linux Server and Windows Server operating systems. Familiarity with Virtualization Technology and concepts. Strong organizational and excellent interpersonal skills and have a “Customer Focus” attitude and delivery. Ability to effectively engage with team members when issues arise to ensure appropriate communication and develop effective resolution plans. Possess the ability to manage projects, meet deadlines and tackle emergencies and difficult situations. Skilled in project management, problem-solving, analysis, follow-through, influence and persuasion. The ability to function as systems thinker and be solution minded with a global perspective. Excellent analytical and programming skills.
