Overview:
Fleet Feet is looking for a dynamic and strategic Senior Manager, Learning & Development to lead the enhancement and expansion of our employee development programs. This role will design, deliver, and evaluate training initiatives while building a comprehensive learning strategy that supports the growth of our Retail, Store Support (HQ), and Distribution Center teams. Based in Carrboro, NC, this role follows a hybrid schedule with a local presence required 2–3 days per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and Deliver Programs:
During Year 1, improve existing programs including Mentorship, Employee Resource Groups, Performance Management, Manager Training, and Employee Engagement. Design and facilitate in-person and virtual training sessions.

  • Learning Strategy Development:
By Year 2, create and execute a strategic learning and development plan aligned with Fleet Feet’s business goals.

  • Leadership Development:
Build programs to support leadership capabilities at all levels. Partner with senior leaders to identify gaps and address them through targeted learning opportunities.

  • Employee Development:
Provide employees with tools and resources to guide their own career growth and advancement.

  • Performance Management:
Align learning initiatives with performance management practices. Lead efforts to revamp the performance review process, including cadence and tools.

  • Measurement and Evaluation:
Define and track key performance indicators to measure learning effectiveness and continuously improve programs based on feedback and outcomes.

  • Budget & Vendor Oversight:
Manage the L&D budget and vendor relationships, including contract negotiations for external learning services.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
Partner with HR Operations, HR Team, Retail Operations, and other internal teams to embed learning into Fleet Feet’s culture and values.
 
Note: This role is currently an individual contributor position, with potential to grow into a people leader.

Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in Learning & Development
  • 1–2 years of people management experience is a plus
  • Strong background in instructional design, curriculum development, and program evaluation
  • Deep understanding of adult learning principles and learning technologies
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet competing deadlines
  • Experience managing budgets and external training vendors
  • Travel: Occasional (15%)
