The Senior Manager Learning Strategy is responsible for defining and implementing learning strategies that build associate competence and confidence across Floor & Decor’s stores and support teams. This role takes a learner-centric, business-driven approach to identify capability gaps and deliver simple, effective, and scalable learning solutions that enable performance on the job.
You’ll operate close to the business - partnering with leaders, spending time in stores, and translating real-world needs into learning that drives results. This role plays a critical part in ensuring associates are equipped to deliver exceptional customer service, product expertise, and execution in a fast-paced retail environment.
You'll be Successful With...
- 6+ years of experience in Learning & Development, Talent Development, or a related field, preferably supporting a multi-unit, front-line workforce
- Proven ability to build and execute learning strategies that drive business performance and associate readiness
- Experience designing innovative, simple, scalable learning solutions that enable application on the job
- Strong partnership and influencing skills with business leaders and cross-functional teams
- Ability to translate operational needs into practical, high-impact learning experiences
- Experience with modern learning approaches such as microlearning, coaching, and experiential learning
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field preferred
Your Day Consists Of...
Assess Learner Needs & Business Priorities
- Evaluate learner capabilities by observing the store environment, reviewing job expectations, and connecting with associates and leaders closest to the work
- Maintain a strong understanding of Floor & Decor’s products, services, and operational workflows to ensure learning is relevant and actionable
Define Learning Strategy & Solutions
- Recommend practical, performance-focused solutions that improve associate readiness, productivity, and confidence
- Ensure solutions emphasize simplicity, speed to proficiency, and application on the job (e.g., microlearning, coaching, experiential learning)
Influence & Partner with the Business
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels to ensure alignment, adoption, and impact
- Navigate challenges directly while maintaining trust and credibility
- Align learning strategies to leadership expectations, success profiles, and talent priorities
Advance AI-Enabled Learning & Innovation
- Identify where AI can meaningfully improve associate performance and speed to proficiency, and embed those solutions into learning strategies
- Pilot and scale practical AI tools that streamline content creation and deliver real-time, in-the-moment performance support
PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
