Job Description:
The Senior PeopleSoft Development Engineer works closely and collaboratively with business functional users to comprehend business requirements; performs analysis, and provide system support. The Senior PeopleSoft Development Engineer is also responsible for software modification and development as well as the testing of PeopleSoft applications to meet business requirements and to ensure ongoing operational efficiency. This position has both functional and technical responsibilities.

Essential Duties:
- Work closely with the Financial Aid and Scholarship Services (FASS) office to build and maintain business processes.
- Responsibility includes analyzing and resolving FASS issues. Also this role will have select functional FASS business responsibility.
- Participates in the continued development of PeopleSoft's Campus Solutions.
- Coordinates with users on modifications, fixes and implementation of new/existing functionality of the PeopleSoft system.
- Gathers and organizes information on problems or procedures; documents existing processes and systems and analyses data for possible improvements; recommends new or revised systems.
- Leads users in analyzing and defining system design input/output requirements, documents, forms and procedural flow between departments and/or divisions when developing and implementing PeopleSoft Administrative systems.
- Supports the design, development, programming, testing, installation and use of higher education applications.
- Designs and maintains processes to interface with data from PeopleSoft and a variety of other internal and external enterprise systems.
- Designs and programs procedures to ensure data integrity.
- Modifies and/or writes applications programming code as needed.
- Prepares reports summarizing findings, alternatives, and recommendations.
- Plans, schedules, and coordinates the implementation of new or modified administrative systems.
- Performs research, including conferring with PeopleSoft/Oracle, to resolve technical questions and problems related to the PeopleSoft applications.
- Confers with other ET (Enterprise Technology) and other ASU department personnel in resolving problems involving program content, input/output requirements, and other procedural and technical matters.
- Prepares, promotes and adheres to written procedures, system specifications, programming guidelines, and other necessary documentation.
- Leverage AI in routine tasks and contribute ideas for using AI to improve the unit's efficiency and overall performance.
- Take responsibility for fostering a positive culture, upholding organizational values, and championing engagement in all its forms.
- Collaborate across teams and actively participate in ET/ASU events and programs.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Financial Aid business processes. Including knowledge of ISIRs and verification, Communications, Awarding, Budgeting and Disbursement.
- The ideal candidate will have experience using the PeopleSoft Financial Aid module, however other FA system experience will be considered.
- Ability to read, modify & create Application Engine, and PeopleCode program logic
- Solid understanding of data structure/algorithms including, but not limited to: Arrays, Queues, Trees, Sorting
- Experience with the planning, testing and implementation of system patches and upgrades.
- Experience with relational databases including the ability to read & write SQL statements with complex joins
- An understanding of XML, JSON, Web-services using SOAP/REST, and creating integrations utilizing PeopleSoft Integration technologies
- Knowledge of or experience with PeopleSoft FLUID page development
- Demonstrated ability to model empathy, compassion, and emotional intelligence.

Working Environment:
- Activities primarily take place in a standard, climate-controlled office environment and may involve extended periods of sitting, standing, or moving between office spaces.
- This role involves regular use of a computer (desktop and/or laptop), including a keyboard and mouse.
- Effective communication and proficiency with a variety of technologies are essential for collaboration with the broader team.
- Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
- Regular responsibilities may require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
