Job Summary The Senior Systems Administrator position is responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, performance and security tuning and recovery procedures for a large, distributed IT system to support all Troy University locations, including developing and designing configuration of operating systems and system applications; investigating and analyzing feasibility of system requirements and developing system specifications, identifying methods, solutions, and providing project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to the customers of the department; and reporting to the Systems Director and working closely with the IT administrative team to design a system that enables the educational technology systems to respond to catastrophic emergency situations
Minimum Qualifications 1. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, or other related technical field (e.g. Engineering, Mathematics)
2. Minimum of three years of experience in systems management, including systems analysis, design and documentation
4. Strong ability to obtain requirements and translate them into specifications
5. Experience with Windows, Linux and VMware, and enterprise environments including Active Directory
6. Skill at identifying problems and proposing solutions
7. Strong oral and written communication skills
8. Ability to work with diverse individuals of various backgrounds
9. Strong interpersonal skills
10. Skill to successfully work collaboratively across functional areas
12. Knowledge of IT system development
14. Ability to be a self-starter
15. Ability to research best practices and incorporate best practices into work
Preferred Qualifications 1. Experience with Microsoft PowerShell Scripting
2. Experience with Microsoft SQL, Symantec Backup Exec, Microsoft Sharepoint, MSO365
