Simulation Education Coordinator Full Description

Overview: 
The Simulation Education Coordinator supports the educational mission of the Clinical Simulation Center by managing Standardized Patient (SP) training and performance tracking, coordinating staff development, and assisting with faculty simulation training. This role ensures alignment with best practices and standards set by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH).
 
Located in Henderson, Nevada, approximately twenty-five minutes from the iconic Las Vegas strip, Touro University Nevada is a non-profit medical, health sciences, and education graduate university focused on positively impacting our community in healthcare and education. 1. Standardized Patient (SP) Program Oversight
  • Develop and implement onboarding, training, and evaluation protocols for SPs.
  • Maintain accurate records of SP participation, competencies, and feedback.
  • Ensure SPs are prepared for simulation scenarios and meet performance expectations.
 
2. Staff Education and Development
  • Assist in sourcing and scheduling internal and external training opportunities for full-time simulation staff.
  • Support the planning and coordination of simulation workshops, continuing education sessions, and certification prep (e.g., CHSE, CHSOS).
  • Occasionally serve as an instructor or co-facilitator for simulation-based training sessions.
 
3. Faculty Training and Support
  • Collaborate with faculty to design and deliver simulation-based learning experiences.
  • Lead initial and annual faculty training sessions on simulation best practices, including scenario design, prebriefing, debriefing, and assessment.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and support to faculty integrating simulation into their curricula.
 
4. Program Alignment and Accreditation
  • Ensure all educational activities align with SSH standards and accreditation requirements.       
  • Participate in the development and documentation of policies, procedures, and orientation materials for simulation educators.
  • Contribute to accreditation efforts by maintaining records and supporting documentation for staff roles and training.
 
5. External Collaboration
  • Work with external institutions and partners to support their simulation-based curriculum requirements and training needs.
 
6. Other Job Duties as Assigned
  • Perform additional responsibilities as delegated by the Director of Clinical Simulation to support departmental goals and institutional priorities.
 Qualifications:
Education
 
  • Associate’s degree in healthcare, education, or related field required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience
 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in simulation education or clinical training.
  • Experience with SP programs, faculty development, and simulation technologies preferred.
  • CHSE or CHSOS certification preferred or willingness to obtain within 12 months
