The role:
As a Solutions Architect, Assessment & Analytics, you will be a key member of Newsela’s Customer Solutions team, dedicated exclusively to the Formative product within the Balanced Assessment Suite. You’ll serve as the lead strategist for aligning Formative to district assessment goals—spanning formative, common, and benchmark practices. Reporting to the Manager of Customer Solutions, you’ll partner with Account Executives and Product teams to deliver technical wins through assessment-aligned discovery, solution design, demo delivery, and proof validation.
What you'll do:
- You will lead technical discovery and solution mapping for strategic opportunities involving Formative by Newsela.
- You'll architect and deliver tailored demonstrations and proofs that show how Formative solves for real-time feedback, instructional alignment, and assessment consistency.
- You will translate complex district needs into practical implementation recommendations and proof plans.
- You will surface field insights to the Product and Content teams to inform future roadmap development.
- You'll develop and maintain reusable assets, including demo templates, solution briefs, and configuration best practices.
- You will mentor peers across the Solution Architect team on assessment strategy and best practices for Formative positioning.
- You'll support RFP strategy and technical documentation for Formative-related custom content or security needs.

- 5+ years of experience in K–12 education, with expertise in assessment design, instructional coaching, or curriculum and instruction.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, or supporting common or formative assessments at the school or district level.
- Ability to craft clear, strategic narratives that link instructional goals to technical capabilities.
- Familiarity with standards-based grading, curriculum alignment, data literacy, and differentiated instruction.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills; experience working in cross-functional teams, including sales, product, and content.
- Proficiency with digital assessment platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a district assessment team, data and innovation role, or a curriculum and instruction leadership position.
- Prior work in educational technology sales, customer success, or solutions consulting.
- Comfort navigating assessment-related data and translating it for instructional decision-making.
- Deep understanding of assessment equity, feedback practices, and universal design principles.
Compensation:
Base salary: $105,000 - $110,000
On-target commission (OTC): $20,000
On-target earnings (OTE): $125,000 - $130,000
Total compensation for this role also incentive stock options and benefits.
