Special Projects Manager Full Description

As a special projects manager (SPM) in Atlanta, you will oversee all special projects and events that the School of Fashion participates in, such as SCAD Days, SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film exhibits, and other exhibitions in Savannah and Lacoste. Related tasks include technical sewing, garment preparation and display, and exhibition installations and deinstallations. You will organize visits from industry VIPs, inviting them to participate in departmental critiques. Responsibilities include the promotion of volunteer opportunities for students with community partners and the facilitation of field trips in collaboration with the events team. Among other duties, you will support photo shoots for competitions, oversee new initiatives, and lead high-profile projects. You will also assist the Atlanta faculty competition coordinator with participation in contests and scholarship awards.
In this role, you will serve as the main point of contact for the public relations (PR) and visual media teams. You will also work with the creative direction team on garment selection and logistics, the communication team for mass announcements and signage, and local stylists for project support. Your runway show production responsibilities will include the creation of the lineup order and the organization of rehearsal schedules and hair, makeup, and stylist fittings. As the behind-the-scenes leader, you will coordinate with external stylists and production teams. Additionally, you will support all aspects of the Atlanta Jury Show and manage all model-related needs. This includes model/student relationship mediation, upholding model expectations, the completion of model agreements, timesheet approval, and the organization of appointment and fitting schedules. 
In this position, you will oversee space management, inventories, and the data system for the fashion resource library. You will handle special reservations and housekeeping needs to ensure the space meets SCAD standards. Among other duties, you will cultivate donations, keep the library organized, and schedule student monitors. Similarly, you will manage style lab mentors, researching to evaluate and invite participants. You will act as the host for mentors, manage all logistical details, and prepare students for visits through communication and professional conduct coaching.
As an SPM, you will gather, compile, and distribute information to academic services and relevant department leaders. You will ensure all mandatory requirements are completed before final reviews or submissions to competitions and awards. Additionally, you will support new faculty, complete building work orders, and serve as the primary contact for the physical resources team. Responsibilities include administrative tasks such as purchase and billing completion, donor-related phone calls and emails, and training staff on e-commerce systems. You will also set up visual elements within the fashion department, such as display boards, resource rooms, and student design hallway installations.
In this role, you will oversee all loaned student work. Related tasks include the preparation of loan agreement drafts and the management of departmental inventory. You will also ensure timely and complete returns. Additionally, you will supervise all School of Fashion student employees during peak seasons. You will hire, train, schedule, and manage their timesheets while resolving issues related to timekeeping and payroll.
The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills and advanced knowledge of the fashion industry. They possess a keen sense of style and aesthetics to create visual presentations. They are also comfortable organizing a large volume of logistical details across client groups.
