Position Summary | The Specialist, Academic Data and Analysis serves as a member of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA) team and is responsible for data analysis and reporting within the Academic Affairs division. The Specialist supports academic initiatives and operational efficiencies through analyzing real-time and historical data, enabling informed decision-making, and enhancing problem identification and resolution. In addition, the Specialist works closely with academic administrators to proactively identify data needs and respond to data requests. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, writing, testing, and implementing Informer reports; developing and performing audits to verify the accuracy of the reports and integrity of the data; training end users on the use of Informer and other data platforms; configuring visuals, creating dashboards and comparison boards; and preparing data view reports. This position also serves as a liaison to the Registrar’s Office, Office of Information Technology, Center for Student Success, and the Provost’s Office in supporting the operations of academic program-specific technology needs as assigned.
Education/Experience | Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a closely related field plus a minimum of two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience or education in programming languages, syntax structures, and data management techniques preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability | Ability to function as an administrator/super user of Informer. Familiarity or experience using Student Information Systems such as Ellucian Colleague, CRMs such as Slate, and reporting and data analytic tools such as Entrinsik Informer. Expert proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Ability to gather and analyze data, compile information, and write reports. Exceptional organizational skills with critical focus on detail, accuracy, reasoning, problem-solving skills, and efficient workflow. Ability to make procedural decisions on sensitive, confidential issues and the ability to maintain confidentiality of information. Exceptional skill in prioritizing workflow and managing resources. Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing priorities. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Essential Functions | Serve as the Academic Affairs division’s administrator/super user of Informer. Provide access to data (live and historical) for the purpose of advancing initiatives and operations in academic affairs. Write, test, and implement Informer reports. Design queries and flow steps to create datasets. Develop and perform audits to verify the accuracy of the reports and integrity of the data. Configure visuals, create dashboards and comparison boards, and prepare data view reports. Provide training on Informer and other topics as requested. Create ad hoc reports and analytics for internal reporting. Provide insight, analysis, and recommendations to support the making of informed decisions. Check and clean data to ensure accuracy. Gather and consolidate data to make interpreting data easier for end user. Give recommendations on current and future data needs and propose plans based on information. Collect and organize historical data to assist with internal as well as state and federal reporting. Liaise with the Registrar’s Office, the Center for Student Success, the Office of Information Technology, Stevenson University Online, and other stakeholders and provide assistance as assigned. Research, identify, and support the implementation of effective and efficient technology solutions to meet the needs of the Academic Affairs division. Participate in relevant training classes, workshops, and professional development activities; acquire and maintain any necessary certifications. Support community and outreach initiatives as requested. Attend all University Faculty/Staff meetings and other meetings as requested.
