Job Summary | UK Innovate is seeking a Senior Executive Director, Product Management, Technology Development, and Research & Development Partnerships to lead its innovation-based economic development initiatives and its UK Innovation Connect program for industry research and innovation partnering. This team leader will be responsible for overseeing the newly resourced industry research partnering efforts for UK Innovate, the new innovation and entrepreneurship umbrella within University of Kentucky Research. The role will coordinate with local community, the state, and industry, as well as relevant departments on campus, to leverage and catalyze the innovation and research strengths and capabilities of the University. The position will interact with industry and related organizations to facilitate partnering opportunities with UK’s world-class research. The position will manage a team of college-dedicated UK Innovation Connect Managers to build long-term and productive relationships with industry, including specific focus on partners and programs aligned with UK’s Research Priority Areas (RPA). In addition, this team leader will be responsible for coordinating with UK’s Sponsored Programs Office, UK Legal, UK OTC, and other relevant units to develop, manage and streamline partnering frameworks and agreements that increase partnering opportunities and collaborative and community engaged research projects. This position will be responsible for shepherding and guiding UK researchers and potential partners, as well as advising the Associate Vice President for Research, Innovation and Economic Impact (AVPR) on economic development program and project opportunities that build value for UK Research, including building programs to support increased participation in collaborations with small businesses through SBIR and STTR. The AD, IED will be responsible for building new research consortium and community engagement opportunities that align with UK’s RPAs, state economic development missions and priority industries. This role will coordinate closely with and support UK OTC in conducting education for faculty, staff and students related to industry partnering best practices and innovative approaches to effectuate industry research collaborations.
