Senior Financial Analyst | Decision Support


Overview:
HMH is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join the Decision Support team within Corporate FP&A, focused on enterprise operating expense and labor management. This role partners closely with corporate and functional leaders to plan, forecast, analyze, and optimize operating expenses, headcount, and discretionary spend across the organization.

Primary Focus Areas:
- Operating Expense (OpEx)
- Fixed and Variable Labor
- Headcount and Workforce Planning
- Maintenance/Software Contract Support
- Cost Control and Efficiency Initiatives
 
Key Responsibilities:
- Support monthly close, annual budget, and quarterly forecast activities for operating and labor expenses
- Analyze OpEx and labor variances, identify key drivers, and provide actionable insights
- Build and maintain expense forecast models, including scenario analysis
- Monitor cost trends, run rates, and forecast accuracy
- Support headcount planning and labor-related financial reporting
- Prepare executive-ready summaries and presentations
- Identify process improvement and automation opportunities
 
Required Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years of experience in FP&A or financial analysis with a focus on expenses or labor
- Strong understanding of operating expense and labor economics
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle, or similar)
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
 
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expense management experience supporting HR, Legal, Operations/Supply Chain, and/or Corporate Affairs/Marketing
- Experience with workforce planning or expense modeling
- Experience with Anaplan, PowerBI, SQL, or VBA/Macros
- MBA, CMA and/or CPA

Salary Range:
$80 - 85,000
