Job Title: Sr. Instructional Design Associate
Position Overview: The Sr. Instructional Design Associate is responsible for developing high-quality technical training materials that support the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of electric utility systems. This role serves as a bridge between subject matter experts (SME’s) and the workforce, transforming complex technical information into clear, engaging, and effective learning solutions. The Content Creator will design and deliver a variety of training formats including eLearning, instructor-led courses, manuals and multimedia content.
Location: Hybrid, Downtown Pittsburgh, PA
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute content strategies in collaboration with the Workforce Development Team
- Design and develop engaging technical training materials that support safety, compliance, and workforce development
- Create learning assets and resources that provide ‘just in time’ support to team members.
- Manage content calendars and ensure timely delivery of materials
- Monitor and analyze content performance and make improvements as needed
- Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback and performance metrics
- Regularly review and update learning content to reflect changes in policy, process, or technology
- Synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to share the impact of learning programs on both learners and the department
- Stay updated on industry trends and audience preferences
Education/ Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Instructional Design, Technical Communications, Adult Education, Instructional Technology or other applicable discipline required
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience required, electric utility experience highly preferred
- Familiarity with Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission regulations a plus
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience working in complex organizations; Utility experience a plus
- Experience in learning platforms such as Articulate Rise, Articulate Storyline preferred.
- Experience using the Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus.
- Knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) is a plus.

Scope: Primary focus is on daily deliverables, outputs and reporting. Accountable for managing one's own time and workflow but may be leading projects or project steps. Work is typically complex in nature requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Continues to build knowledge base but has a solid foundation to act independently the majority of the time. Still draws on experts and managers when needed but less frequently. Act as a resource to less experienced staff on routine issues.
Decision Impact: Problems and issues faced are complex. Draws on experience on a regular basis to solve problems and take new perspectives on existing solutions. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.
Hybrid Work: Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
Storm Roles: All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset.
