The Student Services Director is a professional position in the South Carolina Honors College (SCHC) reporting to the Assistant Dean of Student Success. Honors College staff members should possess a wide-ranging intellectual curiosity and a commitment to working with high-achieving students. The Director supervises one full-time staff member and oversees student academic processes. The incumbent advises SCHC administrators on matters relating to student services programs, policies, procedures, and assessment. The incumbent manages the internal honors student database and coordinates all aspects of student records (including matriculation and graduation, generating reports, auditing, fee assessment, and GPA probation). The employee oversees accuracy, training and updates for the Honors College curriculum block in Degree Works.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Banner, Degree Works, and Self-Service Carolina. 
  • Some knowledge of USC policies, procedures, and programs.

  • Applicants must have the ability to function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • The successful candidate will be well organized, have excellent written and oral communication skills be able to deal diplomatically with various constituent groups, be proficient in Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and have some experience with databases (Filemaker, SQL, or similar). 
  • The successful candidate will have the ability to supervise, train and evaluate personnel. Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret information accurately are critical.

Provides training on Degree Works exceptions to honors advisors and serves as the liaison to the Registrar’s office for managing the curriculum block.
