Job Summary/Basic Function
The Student Success Coach will assist student’s transition from high school to college through regular meetings utilizing a curriculum focused on addressing typical hindrances to successful completion of a college degree. The coach will create a personalized plan for success for each student and will guide students through the campus resources available to them.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree required.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices related to the delivery of academic services for various student populations.

Comfortability navigating, communicating, and building rapport with faculty, staff, and University leaders.

Understanding student support measures, including student development theory, best practices in advising and coaching, and how to apply these to the changing higher education landscape.

Experience advising/coaching students in the academic setting.

Experience working with students, including but not limited to, first-year students, non-traditional students, students at-risk of academic probation, student athletes, and more.

Job Duties
Description of Job Duties
Support of cohort-based support programs, including but not limited to the Shepherd Success Academy, academic probation students, student athlete support, nontraditionally aged students, and more; will meet with students on a walk-in/as needed basis.

Manages an assigned cohort of Shepherd Success Academy students meeting individually, weekly with each student in their assigned cohort; develop learning/life strategies and financial literacy skills that promote student success.

Utilize understanding of individual learning styles and other student success skills and strategies; assist students in developing skills in time and stress management, goal setting, creation of study plans, and test preparation.

Develop relationships and work collaboratively with key University stakeholders and constituent groups to provide easy access to and an understanding of institutional resources; provide assistance and guidance to students to overcome barriers, and foster a spirit of engagement, encouragement, and support

Oversee and manage planning and operations of all Orientation and New Student Programs alongside campus partners, primarily during the Spring semester and summer months. Orientation and New Student Program events and initiatives include but are not limited to: new student registration days, new student welcome and convocation, Rising LEADERS program, Shepherd LEADS program, ongoing summer programming, hiring, training, and supervision of A-Team Orientation Peer Leaders. 

Foster the development of critical and creative thinking skills, problem solving, learning strategies, and inter- and intra-personal skills to result in improved success in and outside of the classroom, and create more connections to the campus community.

Assist in data collection and tracking for Student Success Center programs.

Provide oversight of all Orientation initiatives and other on boarding/new student programming activities.

Serve on relevant committees as assigned by supervisor
