The opportunity

Student Involvement/Student Affairs Staff Assistants play a vital role in fostering a welcoming and inclusive campus environment by delivering high-quality customer service to students, staff, and guests of Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). In this role, student employees will support the daily operations of the Office of Student Involvement and the Office of Student Affairs through administrative and customer service tasks, event support, and special projects. This position provides a unique opportunity for students to develop career-readiness skills while helping to build a vibrant, engaging, and inclusive campus community.

Job Responsibilities

Career & Self-Development / Professionalism

  • Serve as the first point of contact for the office, welcoming and assisting visitors with professionalism and care
  • Perform administrative tasks including scheduling via Microsoft Outlook, answering phones, managing shared email accounts, scanning, filing, and data entry
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate responsible behavior while handling sensitive information
  • Adhere to dress code and arrive on time for scheduled shifts

  • Answer telephone calls clearly and courteously; take accurate messages and direct inquiries appropriately
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty in both written and verbal formats

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled full-time in an Undergraduate or Graduate Day Program at SNHU
  • Work Study part of financial aid package
  • Students with work study may be prioritized
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools and handling telephone communications
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends

Work Schedule

  • Student employees are typically scheduled to work 10-15 hours per week during the academic year.
  • Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • Work schedules will be determined based on the student's class schedule and departmental needs, with flexibility to support academic commitments.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends is required to assist with departmental events and programs.
  • Student employees are expected to attend monthly staff meetings and participate in staff development and appreciation events as part of their employment.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $13.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
