Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.  | Bachelor’s from an accredited institution. One or more years of post-bachelor experience in student affairs, student support services, higher education, leading student support/student success programs and initiatives. Direct experience with students in academic success or recovery efforts. Experience supervising student workers and personnel management. Experience working on large programs/projects. Technical experience in Microsoft Office software, to include Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Presentation and public speaking experience.

Preferred Qualifications  | Master’s degree in Adult Education, Developmental Education, Student Affairs, Professional Counseling, or related field. One or more years of employment developing and implementing post-secondary education academic success or recovery efforts. Two or more years of direct experience with Success Coaching. Knowledge of student development theory, assessment, and practices used to foster student learning.

Job Description  | The Success Coach for Personnel & Projects position supports advancing the university’s Student Success initiatives by providing individualized academic coaching and intervention strategies to students. The success coach for personnel and projects will also be responsible for coordinating and developing staff within Success Coaching, as well as creating and implementing policies and procedures to best support students, staff, and faculty. The Success Coach will assist with departmental and divisional strategic projects that enhance student achievement and engagement. This position will report to the Assistant Director for Success Coaching within the Student Learning Assistance Center.

Job Duties  | Student Success Interventions: Manage a caseload of students, place or remove holds. Meet, refer, and follow up with students regarding general academic questions, concerns, and needs. Foster retention of students through coaching, improving time management, test preparation, study skills, monitoring of student grades, and other support activities. Provide academic direction and advice to students. Maintain records, interpret assessment inventories, make referrals as required, and manage organizational and administrative aspects of individual student cases. Oversee the development of projects and their implementation to achieve specific objectives or outcomes. Refer students on academic probation to appropriate services and resources. Respond to inquiries from students and interpret University and college policies and procedures. Provide advocacy and expertise related to the impact on student success by Success Coaching.

Personnel and Project Management Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training graduate Success Coaches. Support departmental assessment and reporting work for Success Coaching, within SLAC and for assessment initiatives in various academic colleges and other institutional reports as needed. Function as a member of the SLAC professional staff team by attending staff meetings, making referrals to appropriate campus resources, assisting with training programs for all SLAC student workers, and promoting SLAC by speaking to classes, student organizations, and faculty/staff about SLAC services and strategies for academic success.

Departmental and Divisional Support Represent the Success Coaching program in meetings with appropriate personnel from the Division of Academic Affairs (selected deans, advisors, etc.) and the Division of Student Success. Interact with college offices regarding the academic progress of students related to students’ probationary terms. Collaborate on a variety of retention efforts within and outside of the Division of Student Success and articulate the university vision for Success Coaching through outreach to students, faculty, staff, and the community. Serve on campus committees as needed. Present at local, regional, and national meetings and conferences. Other duties assigned.
