Brief Job Description  | We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with accounting, New York State procurement experience to support and enhance the business, financial and compliance operations of our IT service organization, which serves SUNY campuses. This pivotal role encompasses a wide range of financial responsibilities, including managing accounting processes, preparing journal entries, maintaining financial agreements, facilitating revenue recharges, contributing to revenue forecasting and financial trend analysis, contract management, and ensuring compliance with New York State procurement guidelines. This position will also model and adhere to New York State procurement processes. The successful candidate will also play a critical role in budgeting, financial strategy development, and ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.

This position requires a proactive individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and is dedicated to delivering accurate financial skills and insights that drive organizational success. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of the unique financial needs of higher education, procurement and business compliance including such things participating institution agreements in an IT service environment.

The location for this position is in Buffalo, NY. An office location at a New York State or SUNY Institution may be possible.

Required Qualifications  | 1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.2. Experience in accounting and financial analysis.3. Experience with New York state procurement experience.4. Demonstrated expertise in journal entries, account reconciliations, and budget management.5. Familiarity with financial operations in higher education or IT service environments.6. Proficiency in leading accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and financial analysis tools.7. Advanced Excel skills.8. Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to solve complex financial challenges.9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey financial insights effectively.10. Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications  | 1. Proven experience with revenue allocation or recharge models within a shared services environment.2. Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and their application in financial management.3. Strong knowledge of financial regulations, reporting standards, and compliance requirements in higher education settings.4. Experience with contract management and procurement, including adherence to New York State procurement guidelines.5. Prior experience contributing to organizational strategic planning through financial expertise.6. Experience in developing and / or maintaining participating institution agreements.
