Job Description
Position Overview:
Every member of the Team & Family at KIPP KC plays a critical role in ensuring our students are on the path toward college, career, and beyond.
As the Manager of Multilingual / ELL Programs, you will lead the vision, strategy, and implementation of high-quality programming for multilingual learners across the school (or region). You will ensure that all multilingual students receive equitable access to rigorous, grade-level instruction while accelerating English language development.

This role blends instructional leadership, compliance oversight, and program management. You will coach teachers, build systems, monitor data, and ensure fidelity to state and federal requirements. You will also serve as the primary advocate for multilingual learners and their families, ensuring their voices, identities, and experiences are centered in school practices.

Key Responsibilities: 
Program Leadership & Strategy
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive vision for multilingual learner success aligned to KIPP KC’s academic priorities.
  • Design and manage ELL program models (push-in, pull-out, co-teaching) to meet student needs across grade levels.
  • Lead continuous improvement cycles using student data, including ACCESS results and internal assessments.
  • Ensure alignment of ELL programming with WIDA standards and state expectations.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and adjust strategy to drive measurable gains in language acquisition and academic achievement.
Instructional Leadership & Coaching
  • Coach and develop ELL teachers and general education teachers on best practices for supporting multilingual learners.
  • Model high-quality instruction and co-teach in classrooms to build teacher capacity.
  • Support lesson planning, scaffolding strategies, and differentiation aligned to language proficiency levels.
  • Lead professional development sessions focused on second language acquisition, culturally responsive teaching, and instructional strategies.
  • Build teacher ownership of multilingual learner outcomes across content areas.
Data, Assessment & Compliance
  • Oversee administration of English language proficiency assessments (e.g., ACCESS for ELLs).
  • Analyze student performance data to inform instructional decisions and program improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements for multilingual learners.
  • Maintain accurate records of student identification, services, progress monitoring, and reclassification.
  • Lead audits and ensure readiness for compliance reviews.
Family & Community Engagement
  • Build strong relationships with multilingual families, ensuring clear communication and access to school resources.
  • Partner with families to support student language development and academic success.
  • Coordinate translation and interpretation services as needed.
  • Lead family engagement initiatives that celebrate linguistic and cultural diversity.
Collaboration & School Leadership
  • Serve as a key member of the school leadership or academic team.
  • Collaborate with school leaders, special populations teams, and content leaders to ensure alignment of supports.
  • Partner with MTSS/RTI teams to ensure appropriate interventions for multilingual learners.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of ELL staff.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and high-performing school culture.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (TESOL, Education, or related field)
  • Valid Missouri Teaching License with ESOL/ELL certification (or ability to obtain)
  • 3+ years of experience working with multilingual learners, with demonstrated student achievement results
  • Prior instructional coaching or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of second language acquisition, WIDA standards, and sheltered instruction strategies
  • Experience with compliance and legal requirements for multilingual learners
  • Bilingual proficiency strongly preferred
  • Satisfactory outcome of a background check

Applicants currently pursuing certification may apply before certification is received. All certifications must be acquired and on file with KIPP KC before the end of the first year of employment.
