Position Summary | The Systems Administrator will be a key team member responsible for supporting and maintaining the University’s physical security systems, including access control and video surveillance. This role is central to the implementation, maintenance, optimization, and support of the related software and hardware infrastructure. The position requires close collaboration with Campus Safety and a commitment to ensuring a secure and reliable environment. Due to the critical nature of these services, the role requires occasional work outside of standard hours and the ability to respond to emergency outages.
Education/Experience | Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, combined with six months to one year of general IT experience or a relevant internship or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Active industry certifications are a definite.A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required; must be insurable and able to travel between physical campus sites.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability | Proficient with Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019,2022 1 – 3 Years managing and troubleshooting Microsoft Active Directory Including: o Multi-Site Environmento Active Directory Securityo Account provisioning which includes and is not limited to users, groups, and workstations Experience with VMware vSphere or equivalent is a plus Experience with Avigilon and Digital Watchdog (or equivalent) is a plus Experience with NVRs Experience with WinDSX (or equivalent) is a plus Proficient with managing access control systems Experience with issue tracking/ticketing system Proficient with Enterprise Security Best Practices Proficient with Enterprise Backup Technologies Proficient with User Account Single Sign-On Integrations Proficient with Multi-tiered Application Architectures and Deployments Proficient with server virtualization technologies, principles and strategies. Proficient with writing and maintaining Technical Documentation and User Guides Ability to identify and adapt to skills including client support, training, resource and project management, administration and systems integration. Experience with Microsoft 365 Experience with multi-site, multi-data center architecture is a plus Familiarity with network switching, VLAN, and routing fundamentals Experience with formal change management control. Ability to troubleshoot and understand desktop support at a CompTIA A+ level is expected. A+ certification or introductory Microsoft certification is a plus A practical level of experience implementing and administrating common TCP/IP-based services, including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SMTP, etc. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. Ability to travel between campuses.

Periodically subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. Periodically subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation. Periodically required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.
Essential Functions | Serve as an IT lead for the University’s access control and video surveillance systems. Provide support for both the software and hardware components of the campus security infrastructure, working in close partnership with Campus Safety. Collaborate with Campus Safety team to identify, research, and propose new technologies, services, and/or products to enhance the functionality, and/or cost effectiveness of the University’s controlled access and security infrastructure. Install, configure, support and troubleshoot Windows server OS, including Server 2012, 2016, 2019 and 2022 Install, configure, support and troubleshoot MS SQL Server. Maintain other systems and services as needed. Maintain and improve the University’s enterprise systems to provide maximum performance and reliability. Collaborate with OIT staff on projects and initiatives. Provide support for critical systems 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Work independently and perform the highest quality work in support of critical applications.
