We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Training Specialist based in Maumelle or Fort Smith, AR.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Technical Training Specialist will author and deliver in-depth training on Summit’s applications and systems. Will plan, design, develop, implement, and direct technical training and development programs which address the need to improve and/or enhance individual performance with a focus on quality and safety.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate or support the delivery of technical training programs to ensure employees' skills are current.
- Participate in the design, development, and implementation of training programs of a broad organizational scope.
- Develop effective and professional training materials for both classroom and online learning in accordance with company procedures, including but not limited to, training materials, regulatory guidelines and industry “best practices”, including training handbooks, job aids, models, multimedia visual aids, computer- and web-based tutorials, standard operating procedures, presentations, manuals, guides, job performance measures, quick-reference sheets
- Deliver training in the classroom, on-the-job, and via virtual (MS Teams), and analyze which method meets the needs of a multi-generational workforce with various levels of experience and expertise.
- Conduct computer training needs assessments by collecting information pertaining to work procedures, workflows, and reports.
- Conduct training classes by presenting job-specific, company-specific, and generic software applications.
- Facilitate or participate in effective training delivery, including analysis, implementation, testing and documentation to ensure employees’ skills are current with technologies, city codes, state statutes, administrative rules, manufacturers’ procedures, and company procedures.
- Partner with Managers and Supervisors to design and facilitate function specific training to close skill gaps.
- Provide strategic consulting in all aspects related to training and/or technical training for organization-wide initiatives and projects.
- Provide strategic consulting in all aspects related to training and/or technical training to ensure that Operator Qualification training meets or exceeds necessary regulatory and company requirements.
- Analyze applicable safety and regulatory policies and procedures and recommend changes to the training to ensure that these matters are included in the instructional system design process.
- Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, as applicable, including identifying and communicating areas for curriculum development/enhancement opportunities.
- Provide follow-up support for all trainees, including periodic written updates and other forms of opportunity for trainees to contact trainer(s) and receive additional information.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism in and outside the classroom, strictly adhering to Summit’s code of ethics, policies, and procedures.
- Provide ongoing technical resources to field personnel and supervisors to support individual and organizational performance and goals.
- Research and study advancements in educational technologies and methods; evaluate effectiveness of training and development programs, utilizing appropriate data collection instruments and procedures.
- Recommend and/or implement innovative solutions, modifications, and enhancements to training curricula and instructional programs.
- Annually evaluate the effectiveness of training and development programs, utilizing appropriate data collection instruments and procedures
- Keep informed of the latest theories, practices, procedures, and techniques in the areas of adult learning for assessing the acquisition of the knowledge and skills taught to ensure the educational objectives are met.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma required some college preferred.
- Must have at least five (5) years’ industry/technical experience in the field
- Additional certifications or course completions in adult learning and advanced training development from industry recognized organizations are highly desirable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Ability to effectively convey complex processes or workflows verbally and through writing.
- Advanced proficiency with computer technology, information management systems, and client/server networking in a corporate environment
- Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
- Ability to efficiently manage time, and multiple simultaneous projects to meet task deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills in terms of being clear, concise, and professional with the ability to work effectively across teams.
- Ability to interact professionally and confidently with field personnel, management, and/or customers.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically in: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Work well under pressure, and work flexible hours, as required.
- Willing and able to travel to support business needs, as needed.
- Ability to effectively and confidently speak in front of groups of people.
- Ability to learn new information, and relay that information effectively to others.
- Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Possess appropriate interpersonal skills to interact comfortably with all levels of employees.
- Must be a self-starter that can succeed with little direction.
