Rowan University is hiring a Temporary Part Time Hourly Assistant Academic Advisor (University Advising Services) to help students with every part of the advising process, from setting educational goals and planning coursework to choosing a major. The advisor reports to the Associate Director of University Advising Services and works from the University Advising Center or other spots on campus in Glassboro, New Jersey.

Highlights

Advise students on academic requirements and course selection in individual and group sessions, including advising hours at the Camden campus as needed.
Provide career advising tied to major selection, and refer students to specialized staff for tutoring, testing, counseling, financial assistance, and study abroad.
Review and interpret placement and standardized test scores, unofficial transcripts, and course prerequisites for advising sessions.
Develop advising materials and presentations that support individual and group sessions.
Keep current on admissions requirements, degree program requirements, transfer requirements, and the University's academic standing policy so students get accurate guidance.
Maintain accurate electronic records of student interactions, following the institution's interpretation of FERPA for releasing student information.
Assist with new student orientations for first-time and transfer students and take part in Admissions activities such as Open House.
Take part in planning and evaluating the advisement program and in student development and retention programs, building working relationships with other advisors, offices, colleges, and departments.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; one year of undergraduate academic advising experience is preferred and a relevant master's degree can substitute. Currently enrolled Rowan graduate students are not eligible.
Pay of $28 per hour for up to 25 hours per week, not to exceed 944 hours per fiscal year, with work contracted annually and contingent on budget appropriations.
