Pay Range Information  | Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.
 Position Summary Information 
Job Description Summary  | The Admission Counselor is responsible for the outreach activities within assigned geographic territories, including maintenance and follow up with inquiring prospective students, parents, and school counselors. The Admission Counselor will represent the University by participating in college fairs and coordinating school visits. After appropriate training, the Admission Counselor will compile and analyze data for planning, implementation and evaluation of outreach activities. The Admission Counselor will manage file reading caseload for assigned territories, participate on the University Admission Committee including presentations of assigned applicants, assist with day to day operations including making presentations to visiting groups, participate in transfer advising appointments and manage special projects as assigned. The Admission Counselor travel schedule is four to six weeks annually. Perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities  | Develop and implement strategic plan for outreach activities within assigned territories. Represent the university at college fairs and school visits Follow up with prospective students, parents, school counselors Travel four to six weeks annually for recruitment in assigned territories or other Admission-related activities such as receptions. Manage file reading case load including presentations of assigned applicants to admission committee. Participate as a member of the University Admission Committee. Manage special projects as assigned by director. Develop individualized student admissions programs to ensure conversations between the applicant and the University remain positive and productive. Conduct presentations with visiting groups including performing counselor of the day responsibilities. Participate in transfer advising appointments. With training, compile data for planning, implementation and evaluation of outreach efforts. Participate in the strategic planning of university outreach efforts. Participate in professional development activities including conferences and affiliations (currently WACAC Admission Practices Committee member).
Required Qualifications  | Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination in education and experience High level of working knowledge of University programs, policies and procedures. Strong presentation skills to persuasively communicate/connect with target audiences and represent academic programs in a positive manner. Demonstrated effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals at all societal levels. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, and the ability to exercise initiative and work independently. Proven ability to evaluate data, assess alternatives, and make decisions appropriate at the position level Writing skills to prepare clear and concise, grammatically correct business correspondence. Ability to prepare basic financial forms and reconcile expenses. Ability to perform arithmetic calculations such as add, subtract, multiply, divide, percentages and averages. Computer skills in the use of word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, database, internet and electronic email, preferably Microsoft Office Suite. Technical ability to learn and use enterprise software including but not limited to Slate, PeopleSoft/Campus Solutions, The Common Application. Ability to use standard office equipment including copier, fax and calculator. Ability to make travel and lodging arrangements. Ability to schedule and coordinate logistics for meetings, workshops, events, including coordinating catering. Strong organizational skills to prioritize schedules, projects and resources, and to meet deadlines. Ability to use tact and diplomacy and maintain confidentiality. Clear understanding of the mission of Chapman University. Sensitivity and understanding of individual prospective student and family needs.
Desired Qualifications  | Working knowledge of higher education admission and enrollment policies and procedures. Working knowledge of Chapman University policies and procedures that pertain to duties associated with this position.
