VTH Onboarding & Training Coordinator Full Description

Job Description
This position is responsible for supporting operations of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) through the support and development of technical staff (including LVTs and veterinary assistants). The individual will onboard new VTH technical staff, create and deliver instructional content, and monitor and manage staff skill assessments. Employees will develop service-specific competency lists in coordination with service chiefs and existing service technical staff. Position will ensure new staff members complete the required Virginia Tech employee training and facilitate service-specific orientation and skill development. Provides patient care and assists in areas of the VTH. Promotes wellness and wellbeing initiatives within the VTH. Serves as a liaison to regional LVT training programs to identify, develop, and sustain technical staff recruiting opportunities. Communicates updates and/or changes to policies and procedures as they relate to technical staff.

Required Qualifications
Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Veterinary Technician (LVT).
Minimum 5 years of experience working in a veterinary clinical setting.
Highly developed clinical technical skills to include surgery, radiographs, and emergency care. Must possess outstanding organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
Experience working with large animals (equine, bovine, porcine).
Experience working in a complex, multi-service organization.
