Job Summary
This is a one year benefited temporary appointment. Reporting to the Director of Integrated Marketing within SJSU's central University Marketing and Communications (UMC), the Web Content Migration Specialist is dedicated to the one-year sjsu.edu website redesign project. The position will use web tools to audit content at scale and keep the project organized, analyzing site data to justify content decisions and executing a comprehensive "Keep, Merge, Rewrite, Archive" (ROT) analysis across a 30k-page web ecosystem. This role is also responsible for identifying consolidation opportunities, prioritizing content and migration work alongside a Content Strategist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Migrates and manages a large-scale website content footprint (10,000+ pages)
  • Works with the Director of Integrated Marketing and Content Strategist to develop a content governance framework
  • Oversees web auditing tools to establish content migration recommendations and action plans
  • Identifies outdated, redundant, or confusing content and prioritizes recommendations for rewrite, removal, or reorganization
  • Organizes content for external audiences (prospective students, parents, alumni, donors) and internal audiences (faculty, staff, students)
  • Analyzes data in tools such as GA4, GSC, CrazyEgg, and SEMRush to justify content decisions
  • Creates detailed project and content migration spreadsheets and pivot tables to track work
  • Builds timelines, tracks deliverables, and gives progress reports at regular intervals
  • Leverages project management tools such as Asana to track website content overhaul progress
  • Works with the UMC web team to implement web content changes and submit project requests
  • Liaises with the agency of record on website redesign requirements and recommendations

Required Qualifications
  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Information Systems, Digital Media, Web Management, or related field
  • 4+ years of web content management/migration experience
  • Demonstrated experience auditing or migrating large-scale websites
  • Experience with analytics, content audit tools, CMS platforms (Drupal, WordPress, Omni CMS), project management systems, SEO/AEO, and accessibility

Compensation
Classification: Marketing Communications Professional II. Anticipated Hiring Range: $6,067/month - $6,969/month (Step 9 - Step 16); CSU Salary Range: $5,178/month - $7,543/month.
