Job DescriptionStride is searching for a Workday Senior Payroll Administrator. The Senior Payroll Administrator is responsible for the administration, and ongoing functional support of the Workday Payroll and Time Tracking platforms while working collaboratively with stakeholders.
What you’ll do:
- Responsible for the preparation and processing of exempt (biweekly) multi-state payroll from end to end using Workday and OSV with minimal or no errors.
- Reconcile the payroll from period to period.
- Calculate pro-rate wages and deductions, when necessary, such as hire, termination, status change.
- Ensure tax and payroll deduction withholdings are accurate; understand reciprocity.
- Strong understanding about Workday retros and associated processing requirements.
- Perform Workday administrative functions which may include testing for integrations specific to the payroll, time tracking, and absence modules.
- Maintain payroll systems and records, ensuring compliance with SOX, federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve all payroll related issues including taxes with limited supervision and guidance.
- Model best practice components of customer service using ticketing system.
- Stay updated on payroll and benefits legislation, ensuring the organization remains compliant with all laws and regulations.
- Proficient and capable of independently handling all types of tax notices, as well as state and local registrations.
- Handle all types of address changes notifications, assess tax implications, and respond to queries regarding required tax forms, ensuring the correct forms are completed as needed.
- In-depth understanding of local taxes and termination laws of different states.
- Partner in all Quarterly and Year- End audits.
- Proficient in independently handling prior quarter and year tax adjustments in Workday and completing the amendment process with the payroll provider.
- In- depth knowledge of Equity and ESPP payroll handling process, tax implications and IRS regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of W-2 and income reporting to independently handle employee tax filing inquiries.
- Provide training to the team on tax-related topics and address changes related queries as needed, serving as a backup to the Payroll Director when required.
What you’ll need:
Mandatory Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive payroll administration experience in Workday, with Workday serving as the primary and most recent payroll system of record.
- 7+ years of experience independently handling tax notices and managing all types of state and local tax registrations including PA, Ohio, Kentucky LST taxes
- A minimum of three years of experience supporting finance and accounting with month end closing and reconciliation queries.
- Experience in ticketing systems (i.e., Fresh Service, Zendesk).
- Ability to prioritize (and re-prioritize) as business needs change.
- Experience working with a diverse group of stakeholders, independently leading meetings as needed, and providing back-up support to the Payroll Director to ensure team continuity when required.

- Proactively initiates projects and contributes ideas to support departmental growth and development.
- CPP/FPC Certification preferred
