Description | Reporting to the Associate Dean for Admissions and the Assistant Dean for Enrollment Management and Admissions, the Admissions Coordinator provides high level, comprehensive administrative support and coordination for the Office of Admissions. This role is central to managing and optimizing admissions processes and requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently. The successful candidate serves as a key point of contact, engaging with students, faculty, staff, applicants, and visitors, and must demonstrate outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. This position requires occasional work on evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provides support for the admissions processing platform (AMP), including assigning applicants and interviewers, entering applicant data via manual input, Excel, and PDF imports, creating and managing accounts, and updating applicant statuses. Manages the primary admissions email account and phone line, ensuring prompt and courteous responses to inquiries. Coordinates and facilitates interview days, ensuring seamless operations and a positive candidate experience. Manages the confirmation and availability of admissions committee members for weekly virtual meetings during the admissions season. Oversees administrative coordination of the Summer Pre-matriculation Program, including invitations, decision forms, welcome packets, and student rosters; collaborates with the Office of Engagement and Excellence to fulfill all administrative requirements. Processes and generates Hofstra ID numbers for all interviewees in the Student Information System (Ellucian Banner). Collaborates with the Outreach and Engagement Manager on the pre-approval process for candidates in special programs. Provides administrative support for Admissions Committee voting meetings, in rotation with other admissions staff. Manages and coordinates the calendars of the Associate Dean of Admissions and the Assistant Dean for Enrollment Management and Admissions. Undertakes special projects and contributes to office efficiency. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree required. At least two years of progressively responsible administrative or coordination experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably in higher education or admissions. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills. Ability to troubleshoot technology issues and strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Zoom. Experience with database management and admissions-specific software highly desirable. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Salary/Salary Range | $60,000 - $63,000

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
