AR Collection Manager Full Description

IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounts Receivable (AR) Collection Manager to oversee and optimize our collections processes for our diverse customer base, including schools and customers of our IXL Learning family of brands. This critical role will be responsible for managing and developing a team, implementing effective collection strategies, minimizing outstanding receivables, and building and maintaining strong relationships with our customers. The ideal candidate will be a results-driven leader with a proven track record of success in AR management and collections within a fast-paced environment.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of AR collections specialists, setting clear performance goals and delegating tasks effectively to ensure productive workflow
Develop and implement effective collections policies and procedures to minimize outstanding receivables for the business
Oversee the timely and accurate collection of invoice payments from schools, districts, and other customers across products and brands, tailoring collections strategies for different customer segments
Analyze AR aging report, subscription accounts, and outstanding invoices due from school and enterprise customers
Proactively identify high-risk accounts to prevent collection issues
Serve as point of contact for escalations and complex collections issues, while fostering strong, positive relationships with key contacts from schools, districts, and internal sales and sales operation teams
Negotiate payment plans and settlements as necessary, while consistently ensuring a high level of customer service through the collections process
Continuously evaluate and improve AR and collections processes
Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and Legal teams to address AR-related issues and improve overall customer experience
Develop and maintain key AR metrics and reporting, providing insights to management on collections performance and potential risks
Oversee the effective use of AR and collections software and tools, ensuring data integrity and proactively identifying opportunities to streamline processes
Assist with external audits related to accounts receivable and ensure adherence to company policies, relevant compliance regulations and internal controls

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounts receivable and collections, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role
Proven track record of successfully managing AR and collections, preferably within the education or SaaS industry
Strong understanding of accounting principles and AR best practices
Excellent communication (both written and verbal), negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
Proficiency in using NetSuite and Salesforce is a plus
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
Experience working with schools, educational institutions, or other subscription-based business models is a plus

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The base salary range for this full-time position is $115,000 - $130,000 + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the position. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
