The Assistant Director for Scholarships oversees the comprehensive management of Purdue University’s scholarship programs and leads a dedicated team within the Division of Financial Aid. This role is responsible for interpreting and coordinating over 5,000 university-wide scholarships across all colleges, schools, and departments, ensuring alignment with institutional policies and compliance standards.
Key responsibilities include managing and maintaining the scholarship database (Ellucian - Scholarship Universe), overseeing scholarship reporting in Cognos, and administering Banner processes related to scholarships. The Assistant Director collaborates with the Associate Director to develop, implement, and refine policies and procedures for effective scholarship fund management, and leads the team responsible for testing and reviewing report outputs. This role also manages the creation, updates, and maintenance of documentation for DFA manuals, Cognos reports, Scholarship Universe manuals, and the scholarship webpage.
As a member of the Division of Financial Aid management team, the Assistant Director contributes to daily operations and helps establish short-term operational plans for the division. This position oversees the development of counseling information and training materials related to scholarship processes and is responsible for communicating and training campus partners on systems such as Scholarship Universe and Cognos, as well as best practices and guidelines.
The Assistant Director supports the office by counseling students, parents, and university partners on financial aid eligibility across federal, state, institutional, and private programs. The role ensures that policies and procedures are current and accurately documented, provides regular updates, and maintains thorough records to support compliance and operational efficiency. Additionally, the Assistant Director is responsible for awarding financial aid in accordance with all applicable policies.

Qualified candidates will need:
- Bachelor’s degree
- A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in customer service, program management or comparable experience.
- Ability to balance interruptions, perform multiple and varied tasks, and handle confidential information with discretion is important.
