About the Role:

The Associate Product Marketing Manager, Dummies will be responsible for planning and overseeing marketing activities for frontlist books and high-profile backlist titles published by Dummies, the world-renowned brand that makes learning easier. This position will drive the development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns for the Dummies brand, key products, categories, and authors. You will need to have experience in marketing, with outstanding collaboration and communication skills, bringing enthusiasm and a touch of irreverence for which the brand is known. The ability to multi-task and work under pressure is essential for this role, as well as a strong customer focus.
 
The Associate Product Marketing Manager, Dummies will collaborate with editors, sales, authors, the dummies.com product team, global colleagues, rights and licensing, and channel marketers. The ability to innovate and prioritize around the needs and wants of each team is critical. Our ideal candidate is a strong communicator who inspires trust and confidence of internal and external stakeholders, and a curious marketer capable of growing the Dummies brand and handling multiple projects all at different stages in the marketing cycle with confidence and passion.
 
How you will make an impact:

  • Create, manage, and execute marketing plans for the brand, key products, authors, and categories.
  • Develop effective working relationships by collaborating across functional groups (editorial, marketing, sales, global teams, rights, etc.) to get buy-in on marketing plans at all stages from pre-launch to post launch.
  • Expand Dummies social media presence.
  • Work with the Custom Solutions Sales Team to drive awareness of the Dummies custom business.
  • Communicate frequently on progress of high-profile initiatives, including globally.
  • Participate in key author meetings, and delivering timely, clear, and concise communication/responses to all inquiries.
  • Work closely with dummies.com team to coordinate promotions.
  • Drive development of content for campaigns, including flyers, social media content, infographics, and email blast copy for consumer facing promotions.
  • Review and provide marketing input on manuscript submissions; participate in editorial discussions regarding direction of new book acquisition.
  • Coordinate marketing efforts with publicist on key campaigns.
  • Manage departmental budget, including invoicing and vendor set up.
 
What we look for:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years’ marketing experience in book publishing or similar industry.
  • Demonstrated success launching products and services.
  • Ability to influence your teammates, as well as colleagues, stakeholders, and key executives, through your use of data, logic, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, alternating rapidly between high-level strategy, mid-level planning, and detailed execution.
  • Solid project management slant, timeline management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • A positive, can-do attitude, strong EQ, and the ability to work well with different types of personalities.
  • Ability to present information in both one-on-one and group situations to authors/customers and coworkers.
  • High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and organization.
  • Passion for diverse books.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
