Job Description
Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reynolds is seeking a Career and Financial Literacy Coach.
This position will support the mission of the Road to Success for Virginians Program (RSVP), CCWA, and the colleges by providing support to individuals seeking training, workforce skills, coaching, financial literacy support, and dependents under 18 living at home, to prepare for employment and become self-sufficient.
Purpose: The Caree and Financial Literacy Coach will serve as one of the three RSVP coaches working with individuals that qualify for the RSVP program. For each individual, the Coach will provide one on one meetings and will teach participants the value of bundled services.
Career Coaching:
Maintain, revise, or establish a career plan with students/job seekers ensuring that it aligns with target industries, results in an industry recognized credential, and leads to employment or continued education/training. In conjunction with Sector Program Support Techs, the Coach will help individuals enroll in credential training and when they are job ready, connect them to a team member that will support them during their job application process.
Financial Coaching:
Assist participants in resolving financial concerns and focus on financial health to shift the approach towards proactive financial management. The coach will assist participants in improving their credit score, net worth and net income. The coach will do this through the use of financial assessments, budgets, balance sheets, and credit building strategies.
The Coach will work closely with the rest of the Career Services Team, partner agencies, and local DSS offices to collaboratively support individuals with wrap around supports to address any barriers to employment they may face. The Coach will ensure timely data entry and reporting as needed, maintaining and tracking program files, participant data and other records. The Coach will utilize the Workforce Enrollment Systems (WES), Navigate, Network2WorkRVA and Salesforce for record keeping
Special Assignments | May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications | Considerable working knowledge of human development and career pathway planning for individuals who are unemployment or underemployed. Prior experience and/or education in human services, career services or similar, working with populations to successfully overcome barriers to personal and professional success. Considerable experience coordinating services with multiple agencies and community partners. Considerable working knowledge of motivational interviewing in order to apply a strengths-base approach for setting and attaining career goals to meet job seekers individual needs. Demonstrated ability to interpret labor market trends and provide professional guidance/coaching to help adults navigate education and training opportunities. Considerable knowledge and experience delivering financial literacy training and services to low-income, unemployed, and underemployed individuals. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with a diverse population of clients, staff, and business and community partners. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and to organize and deliver multiple projects in a timely manner.
Additional Considerations | Bachelor’s degree in education, human services or related field preferred or equivalent experience in career and financial coaching. Work experience in career coaching, counseling or workforce development. Work experience in financial coaching. Works well in a team and individually. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Prior work in fast paced environment managing a caseload of clients Experience operating a personal computer with current software programs to include word processing, digital communication, spreadsheet, and database products. Bilingual in Spanish
