The Career Services Officer plays a key role in supporting this mission by empowering students and alumni to navigate today’s healthcare job market, providing strategic career coaching, building strong employer partnerships, and advancing licensure-aligned employment outcomes across all programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Career Coaching & Student Development-
- Provide one-on-one and group coaching in resume writing, LinkedIn optimization, interview preparation, and job search strategies tailored to healthcare careers.
- Conduct behavioral mock interviews, leveraging recruiter-level expertise to improve student performance and confidence.
- Assess students’ strengths, competencies, and career goals to guide them toward appropriate employment pathways.
- Develop and deliver career readiness workshops informed by real-world recruiter expectations, hiring trends, and competency models.
Employer Relations & Partnerships-
- Identify, engage, and maintain relationships with hospitals, clinics, long-term care providers, rehabilitation centers, and other healthcare employers.
- Conduct prospecting, outreach, and relationship-building activities to expand the university’s employer network and externship pipelines.
- Communicate employer needs and hiring expectations to students and faculty.
- Support the planning and execution of employer panels, healthcare career fairs, recruitment events, and networking forums.
Program Development & Collaboration-
- Develop targeted resources such as job search guides, competency-based resume templates, interview preparation tools, and market-specific career materials.
- Contribute insights from employer engagement activities to support departmental planning and service enhancements.
Data Tracking, Reporting & Continuous Improvement-
- Track and report student engagement, job placement metrics, alumni outcomes, and employer activity using CRM or career services management systems.
- Apply data-driven decision making to evaluate program effectiveness, identify gaps, and implement enhancements to services and employer engagement strategies.
- Stay current on healthcare hiring trends, credentialing requirements, licensure pathways, and regulatory changes impacting employment.
Additional Responsibilities-
- Attend trainings, conferences, and professional development workshops to remain current in career services best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental and institutional goals.
Qualifications:
Required-
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- $21.00 – $24.00/hr. (Compensation is dependent upon education and experience).
Preferred-
- Experience in career services, advising, or student services, ideally in higher education or healthcare.
- Confidence and proficiency in conducting cold calls and proactive outreach to prospective healthcare partners to expand graduate placement opportunities.
- Knowledge of healthcare licensure pathways and industry expectations.
- Familiarity with healthcare-specific job search strategies and employer relations.
- Experience with job placement metrics, database systems, or career tracking platforms.
