Physical Requirements  | Sitting at a workstation for extended periods of time; lifting/carying light-weight objects; and walking across campus.
Shift  | Monday – Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM; and occasional evenings and weekends based on unit needs.
Job Summary  | The department manager position is a critical driver of departmental success, serving as the central point of coordination for administrative operations, faculty support, and stakeholder engagement. With a focus on efficiency and responsiveness, the role helps ensure the seamless daily functioning of the department by managing workflow, supporting leadership, and overseeing logistical needs such as travel reporting, purchasing, and resource coordination. The individual in this role acts as a go-to resource for faculty, staff, and students while balancing multiple priorities with discretion, professionalism, and a strong sense of initiative. From maintaining essential communication channels to supporting special projects, this role is foundational to creating a high-functioning, well-organized academic environment.Beyond internal operations, this position plays a strategic liaison role between the department and the broader university, connecting with units across the College and centralized services to ensure compliance, alignment, and timely execution of key initiatives.
Responsibilities include: organizing event logistics submitting space and facilities requests submitting Concur reports and purchasing requests maintaining essential records in accordance with university policy 
The individual is also instrumental in supporting faculty recruitment, graduate admissions efforts, and departmental events—bringing creativity, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset to every task. With a strong foundation in university systems and policies, this role not only supports day-to-day operations, but actively contributes to the long-term success and reputation of the department.
