Fiscal and Administrative Coordinator Full Description

Job Description
Under the direction of the Director of Finance and Administration, the Fiscal and Administrative Coordinator will assist in managing all the fiscal and business activities for the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Virginia Tech. Primary responsibilities will include assisting the Director in management of the fiscal and business operations of the Department, assisting faculty in administering research projects, financial reporting, assist with budget analysis and tracking, assist with scholarship oversight, assist Dept Human Resource Coordinator with graduate student contracts and various human resource needs, and assist with continuous monitoring and reconciliation to ensure compliance with university policies and procedures, and assist in providing fiscal, human resource, and operational guidance and training to ECE employees.
Required Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Business Information Technology, or related field, or associate degree in related field plus equivalent level of experience.
-Prior university experience working in a fiscal operations role.
-Experience utilizing complex financial systems to extract, manipulate, and utilize financial data for decision making.
-Demonstrated problem solving and leadership skills.
-Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Excel.
-Exhibited good written and communication skills.
-Experience handling time-sensitive and confidential records.
-Ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, and meet deadline.
-Able to multitask and work independently to prioritize assignments in a high volume, team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
-Prior university experience working in an academic research environment.
-Prior training experience.
-Experience managing multiple funding sources (e.g. State funding, Foundation funding, Grant funding).
-Working knowledge of VT policies and procedures particularly those relating to financial, purchasing and research grant administration.
-Experience with enterprise financial or human resource systems such as Banner, Summit, MicroStrategy or similar systems
